Haven't played this game but a few times...

This relates mostly to the 1775 Grand Campaign as far as what I'm searching for right now. I was wondering about the blockade runners for the colonies; when I place them in the shipping boxes to increase supply (as compared to AACW CSA), I don't see ANY impact as to supplies. I realize it's a subtle thing but I've noticed messages in te events about supplis have been received in different sections of the fledgling nation. Are these two related?

Shipping boxes in WIA do not generate supply. Those messages are unrelated...

In 1.05, you will start seeing messages when Privateers earn EP from Shipping lanes.
Always ask yourself: "Am I part of the Solution?" If you aren't, then you are part of the Problem!

Then I guess I'm missing something else though I do get EP. I guess calling them blockade runners confused me after playing AACW.
Stupid Question Of The Day: What, then were the functions of a blockade runner before latest patch? :bonk:

I do appreciate your assistance. You guys are an IMMENSE help to us "youngsters"!

They are not blockade runners, but privateers! :)
Their mission was capture and burn English merchants and generally being a pain in the ass for the British.
In game this is simulated by giving the USA player EP points each turn they keep privateers on each box (tip: divide them and keep then on all boxes at once for more EP points).
Occasionally, combat will happen on the boxes between your privateers and the merchants (good, but not very effective) or their escorts (dangerous!). Don't expect to actually sunk any merchant British unit on the boxes, as your privateers are not strong enough. They real role is to gain EP points just by staying there.
Now, after the French arrive, they powerful ship of the line fleets can wreak havoc with the merchants on the boxes and also take the British combat fleets head to head.
Before the 1.05 patch privateers also earned EP points like now, but there was no message about it :bonk:

Cheers!
