Capture of the generals

Sun Jan 27, 2008 6:12 pm

Is it possible that in the future patches to introduce the capture of the general unit like the capture of battery or supply? :indien: :indien: :indien:

I would think that a general's "death" in battle could just as easily be assumed to mean his permanent capture by the enemy. The result is the same.

I don't think a captured general could be used as part of one's own forces as easily as supply or artillery. :)

Capture of Generals is maybe interesting but in the case the scenario is long and covers several periods with significatives changes like the surrender of Napoleon after 1814 Campaign of France. And it makes sense if captured Generals can be released.
For example, General Vandamme was captured in august 1813 and then released in 1814 and therefore a diplomatic option/event could simulate that, why not ?

En respectant l'historicité?
Murat semblait dire dans la liberté du jeu, c'est-à-dire de façon imprévisible.
Ou alors il y a une possiblité de rendre un général capturé ce qui ferait un event (comme un général blessé est de nouveau disponible)

Sorry if it's not clear, I was seeing it better for a long campaign and managed by events (or a specific option to sign for it into the ledger) for important captured leaders (historical named leaders).

Jojo le Gouffy is right!!!
The capture of general can determine a result in terms of point of victory. The capture of general also is the realistict effect of victory in the field, or the result of the raids in ennemy territory execute by cavalry.
Many episodes in the history of napoleon's campaigns concern the capture of generals.

Often, my Generals end up healing their wounds in weird places hundred of kilometers of the original battlefield, even behind enemy lines. And I then move them back to my army without any escort crossing whole enemy corps. It is very unrealistic they do not get captured then.
