NCP {public beta} Patch 1.09 RC3, March 1, 2012

Thu Mar 01, 2012 3:24 pm

Thanks to an outstanding effort by Bohemond, Franciscus and the NCP Beta team, another update for you!

This patch is not compatible with saved games from versions earlier than 1.09 RC1.

In all cases, the Saved Game Folder will be deleted.

If you started a game in 1.09 RC1 or later, you must copy the save folder to a safe place, install the patch, then copy the saves back.

Attempting to play a saved game from 1.08 or earlier will result in strange behavior of units and probable CTD.

THIS PATCH DOES NOT WORK FOR THE 1.00 VERSION, if you have not installed the Foundation Patch before.

I must say that I am sorry.

- Sorry for not having tried harder initially to "get" the concept of NCP - being a big fan of AACW, the lack of a "mythical" GC had always turned me off, until now. But now I finally understand the concept behind this great game that covers all the major Napoleon campaigns from 1805 onwards, in tightly packed, well researched, easy to play in a couple of hours (except the biggest scenarios), fun and extremely challenging scenarios - logistics, supply, weather, corps support, rebels, are a nightmare to handle, as it should be
- Sorry for some posts that I made badmouthing this game, undeservedly :(
- Sorry for the time I lost while I could be having fun playing NCP !

But very happy to have had the opportunity to beta test 1.09, that, thanks to the great work being done by Bohemond and lodilefty, is becoming really great.

All Napoleon wargamer fans out there should not miss this pearl, specially when 1.09 gets released, and while waiting for NCP2

Franciscus, many of us had the same "problems" with NPC.
But sometimes you must lose something to really appreciate it :(

A small bug:

When we hover the mouse on the little Nato symbol on the upper left corner of an element info card, there appears a text string (see pic). At least in AACW this does not occur

One bug I come up against is on the Peninsular Campaign playing Coalition: the Portuguese have one replacement category that is "unknown" I think they are supposed to be cavalry, but since it is broken, I don't think you can give replacements to cavalry.

Thanks for reporting  . This has already been identified, and hopefully will be solved in the next patch.

There are also replacements for 2 star Portuguese generals, I have never seen general replacements, but I'm sure if you know about the bug I posted before, you will know about this.

I found out several bugs when I played the Peninsular campaign before and will post about them as I find them again. One of them is that many of the "news clippings" are posted twice.

Don Francisco Abadia who appears in early 1809 has 2 different portraits on map and on the stack list.

The Conde de Resende arrives in Lisbon in early March 1809, is listed as a brigadier but can form corps for some reason. The same with Noronha who comes to Lisbon in Early May. Also with Contamina who comes in July 1809 for the Spanish in the North.

A quick look(not much time as I still work on another game/scenario) and I instantly saw that unit detail window again covers the elements panel, Bohémond already made a fix for it in the other thread(http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?23188-Feedback-for-NCP-Official-Patch-1-08-November-4-2011&p=221923&viewfull=1#post221923) but I guess it came back because of the "Army Outliner".
Because of this I suggest putting the Army Outliner on the left side of the screen, also because if you collapsed the outliner it is covered by the unit detail window, although you can still click on it it looks strange.

The attachment NCP.jpg is no longer available

I use a normal 1920x10200 resolution.

Speaking of the outliner, showing 8 diamonds is sometimes(especially in the Russian campaign) not nearly enough for all the corps in the Grande Armée, not sure what should be done... maybe the flag could be made bigger to get them all on?
