NCP Public Beta 1.08 Release Candidate 1 - September 24, 2011

Sat Sep 24, 2011 12:50 pm

Comprehensive patch (Includes recent QwikFix changes)

Should be compatible with games started in 1.07 or later.

THIS PATCH DOES NOT WORK FOR THE 1.00 VERSION, if you have not installed the Foundation Patch before.

=====================================================================================
NCP 1.08 Public Beta Release Candidate 1
September 23, 2011
=====================================================================================
= "Unit Detail" CTD bug fixed
= New parameters in settings to regulate Automatic Experience gain. Bug fixed.
= Ammo non-consumption bug fixed.
= "Scrambled" Battle Reports bug fixed.
= There is now a stack (group) name memory. Basically when the scenario setup is created the current name is also stored. This has been done (and is very often useful) so that the name of a stack doesn't change as soon as you move a unit out of it, or the reverse. A stack will assume a new name by merging the stack into another unit or stack.
= An insidious bug with the "NotEnemy" script parameter is fixed. (This was part of the issue with the "Hortelez Supply" arriving in Enemy Ports in WIA.)
= Cavalry won't switch posture when crossing a river, even if 100% hostile MC on other side
= Bug fixed where sometimes a replacement was used from a wrong faction tag to replace an element in an unit

Updates and fixes by Bohemond are included: (Thank you!!!)
See the NCP Updates.rtf file for details

Thank you, good work.

But I still miss the 2D siege icon (instead of the 3D siege icon)

Yes, the siege icon. :(

We actually like the 3D siege icon better, but this easy, much to easy to overlook! :(

And it's much harder to determine the breach "status".

For example in 1807 "polish campaign", Breslau & Danzig are besieged.

Siege in 1.06. With the well known 2D "siege icon" and easy to catch tooltip !
Image

Siege in 1.08. With the 3D version of the "siege icon". Hard to see and hard to catch the tooltip with the "siege/breaches status".
Image

Anyway, the "pillage icon" is still the 2D version of the icon.

Hope that helps,
Bernadotte

Hah! I finally found it.
Game engine is using the map_siege_3D.png instead of map_siege.png when in 2D icons mode. 3D works correctly.

This one is for "the Master" to fix.

Thank you!

Perhaps this is happening in WIA as well?

Nope. WIA does not have any 3D graphics or even the choice!

Exactly and this might be the problem ! No 3D graphics = no icon at all :D

Oh, I see you already fixed the problem in WIA. Excellent ! Thank you.

This is so confusing and not immediately apparent! :(

Breslau is sieged, but the gun stands and fire from Brieg!

Guys, Ladies (If any :-) ),
I have been following you in the form for many months now -and I believe many of us do as guests. Thank you for not giving up (both parties!), I appreciate that.

Please keep the patches coming. As an old 'Empires in Arms' fan I assure you this game can and will become a classic if it survives (both in the kitchen and in the market) a few more years.

Regards.

I'm a bit reluctant to try the 1.08 beta patch, as after installing 1.07 along with the quickfix the game runs slower than it has before, and it has crashed several times (usually during the end-turn phase) which has never happened to me before either. What gives? I'm going back to the 1.06 version.

Hang in there. The end of turn non-execution or crash, both happen, spans all games. It is out there and will be fixed. Plus, 1.07 and .08 and quick fix all took care of necessary issues. Put out what happened so the great folks here can fix it.

I've been playing the game for two years and only recently does the game 'hang' during turn resolution phase - I'd never had trouble before. Plus, I might also add , it seems that the 1812 campaign is much harder. In previous scenarios I always considered the campaign to be going well if the Russians were losing two soldiers to every one Frenchman: the handful of times I have played it with the new patches (1.07 & 1.08) the French are consistently losing more soldiers in individual battles. Now this may be explained by the new strategies I have adopted, but I think it unlikely. After 3 or 4 turns of this I usually abandon the game and start again. Unless I see losses of 2:1 I quickly get disheartened. And I never set the difficulty level any lower than sergeant.
