Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Can you post your saved game (zipped)?

umm. i don't guess so. i went to the saves folder as per another thread, but it's empty, as is the log folder...

Its when I select the all out attack of Danzig. It fights one battle (the corp defending) and then it fights another battle. The second battle it always last until hour 4 range 0. Then the whole game freezes and I have to end the program because it is not responding.

I did check the options under system. This time, only the first battle happened, because it stopped at hour 2 range 1.

(awesome response time by the way. not what i was expecting. Thanks a lot)

The problem is that unless the bug is happening on the first turn of a scenario, we can't fix it without a saved game.

I guess you are on Vista? That would explain why you don't see the files, but they are there...

Incidentally, most of the AGEod games were originally designed and tested with the Windows XP operating system (which DID NOT relocate files) and subsequent operating systems have new quirks (especially relocating files) NOT envisioned at the time of original programming. Since AGEod does not currently possess a time machine, :D it is obviously rather difficult to pre-plan for what Microsoft does in future OS releases. After a while, we gather feedback from new OS system users such as you and give more helpful information to later queries.

That may be one of the problems really.
If the user installed the game on the Program Files directory, then it is very probable that W7 is trying to relocate the saved games into another place... :bonk:
Also, it is very important to know if the user has the UAC disabled or not... that may be another issue too. ;)

I did look through my documents and all that. I did come up with one log for the game.

Most probably, here it is your problem:
4:18:33 AM (Reporting) ULocalize.LoadLocalStrings: System local strings loaded from C:\Program Files\Napoleon's Campaigns\NCP\Settings\LocalStrings__AGE.csv

In Vista and W7, it is highly recommended to install the game in another location, for example:
C:\Games\ or C:\
;)

Also, have you disabled UAC or not?

I have not disabled UAC. I only have the one account though. the owner account.

I'll reinstall the game later today and let you know. Thanks alot.

Edit: When I reinstalled under C: the freeze didn't occur. now, though, the game doesn't take up the whole screen. I have to use the arrow keys to go around the map.

Well, although it is said the UAC is working (much) better on W7 than in Vista, it is still highly recommended to turn it off when playing games.
The UAC may restrict access to some files when trying to "secure" your computer... leading to a freeze on your games. ;)

Well, that's good to hear.

So, you can't turn the game into "fullscreen mode"?
No idea why you can't, maybe someone else can help you with that...

Same with me, game freezes when assaulting Danzig (in different turns) in the Polish Campaign.
I'm running on XP with NCP 1.06.
Game file is attached.

Thanks,
Bernadotte

I had the same problem yesterday with the same scenario. In my game it was Gumbinnen, where the game freezes. The same picture as above, when battle hour 3 accoured. It was four turns before end and I had 199 VP's. Very annoying!!
I bypassed the problem by recopying the backup files from the previous turn, started again and this time I didn't attack Gumbinnen. I took the last VP's from Brest Letowsk and ended with just 202 points.

Sorry to hear that. The freeze happens when a leader is promoted into himself (circular reference in the database).
