Hi everybody,

Sorry for posting in english.

I'm working to introduce Spanish names for Spanish units in Peninsular War Scenario.

I need a detailed list of units names in Spanish and the relative shorteneing.

Example:

Regimiento = Rgto

Batallón = Bon.

And so on

Please post a detailed and complete list for Army and Navy

Yo le he comentado Rgto. y Bon. Creo que ahora son en mayusculas, por ejemplo BRIPAC, pero en el juego son en minúsculas, así que la de brigada sería Bri.? Cia. Div.?

También la de batería

Cuerpo = Cuerpo (p.e. XIV Cuerpo)

Ejército = Ejército (p.e. Ejército del Centro)

I suppose its the translation of theses units types...

Infantry: Infantería
fusilier: Fusileros
cavalry: Caballería
heavy cavalry: Caballería pesada
light cavalry: Caballería ligera
guard: Guardias
Militia: Milicia
partisans: Partisanos (but i would use guerrilla here too)
Guerrillas: the same!

cossak: Cosacos :confused:

Some more...
Hussars: Húsares
Lancer: Lanceros
Dragoons: Dragones
...

Entonces supongo que para jasta seria mejor pasárselo en excel directamente no?
Por cierto, esos nombres donde aparecerían en el interfaz?

Porque los nombres que salen en el de detalle de unidades creo que no son porque esas lineas están metidas en el archivo de Local Strings,

Yo no entiendo de esto del modding pero quizás esos nombre son "intocables" y los que hay que traducir son los que sale en el archivo de local strings?? :confused:

En cualquier caso hay que saber donde van a salir, para hacer una traducción mas o menos abreviada, porque sino el texto desborda del panel y queda fatal.
Lo se porque en el WIA tuve que modificar el 80 por ciento de los nombres que aparecen en el panel de detalle de unidades porque eran demasiado largos...

Esto no tiene nada que ver con lo de los retratillos :wacko:

Yo no digo que haya que corregirlos en ese sitio, la base de datos de modelos, columna D, sólo que supuse que serían los nombres a traducir.

Yo lo único que se es traducir cosas

Pero siempre he trabajado sobre los dos archivos local strings... fuera de eso el resto de lo de archivos excel es un misterio insondable para mi :blink:

AFAIK, LocalString_NCP is used, but other to support more languages in the game: texts related to events, tip boxes, unit detail panel, message log, Ledger pages.
What I'm going after here, with your support is a different matter: I just want to use spanish names for Spanish Units and Sub Units unique names.
They will not ever been translated when choising a different language for NCP installation.

An Example from 1813 scenario should help to clarify the concept.
But language support you chosed for your installation, (I assume you are using the Spanish language installation) you should have french language names for FRA side units:
24e Bie Garde, 2e Bie 1D, 1/Brigade Joubert, 6e Lancier Polonais, 60e Ligne, 27e Ligne Prov.
At same time you should have german language names for Prussian, Austrian, German minor states Units and Sub Units:
4. Ostpr. IR, 5. Pferd Bte/III. AK, 2. Schles. Husaren, 1. Bat./Colbersches IR.

BTW, Russian units uses English language names,...for now!

With your help and support we'll have something like that with Peninsular War scenario: French language names for French units, English language names for English units, Spanish language names for Spanish units.
To do that I just need:
1. a quite brief Spanish language list of units kind and services and related shortening.
2. Spanish language numbers, (I already have it, thanks to Nikel).

At moment we have some hybrid Spanglish....
Example from Cuerpo de Taje: 1st Brigade, 2nd Brigade, Granaderos prov. de Castilla Vieja, Vol. de Tarragona.

I plan to modify that to:
Cuerpo de Taje: 1era Brigada de Infanteria, 2a Brigada de Infanteria, Granaderos prov. de Castilla Vieja, Vol. de Tarragona.
or
Cuerpo de Taje: 1era Bgda. de Inf., 2a Bgda. de Inf, Granaderos prov. de Castilla Vieja, Vol. de Tarragona.

I could copy past them to be later used with Peninsular War Spanish names!

JastaV, we assume all the Bat. on your list are artillery units and not infantry battalions.
Bat. is ok for batteries. But if they are battalions, Bon. or Btn. should be used instead.
Later i will try to post the translation of the units types Nikel posted before (or have you already translated them, Nikel?)

3o Rgto in the game... so it is confusing.
