Downloading "Napoleon's Campaigns" (dealing with mail and URL problems)

Some of you have already started receiving instructions on how to download your pre-ordered editions of the game. Unfortunately, some of the links distributed have been muddled up a bit, rendering the downloads invalid, at least in some e-mail clients.
First of all, if this post doesn't solve your problems, make sure to read http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=6302, which contains further information and instructions
In order to download your copy, do as follows:
==== FIRST ====
In the mail you have received, there should be an URL; part of the URL should say
Code: Select all
MAIL=xyz@xyzxyz.com&
Make note of the part between
"MAIL=" and the first
"&" after it. This is your email address. (You probably knew that already, but some people have a whole range of e-mail addresses they use

)
Then, in the same URL, find the part that says
Make note of the part between
"C=" and the first
"&" after it. This is your download code. In some cases, the code section will start with "3D", which is not part of the code and therefore should be cut away before you proceed.
====THEN ===
You then have two options:
Enter in the browser of your choice the following:
Code: Select all
http://www.ageod.telechargement.fr/dl.html?MAIL=MAILADDRESS&C=CODE&Langue=EN
except that you exchange MAILADDRESS for the mail address and CODE for the code you retrieved above.
Hope this helps, if not, I'll keep updating this thread based on your feedback.
==== OR ====
Go to the following URL:
http://www.ageod.telechargement.fr/tele.html
and enter your e-mail address and download code to get access to the download
Thanks to Syt for sharing the insights on which this is written
NOTES ABOUT SPECIFIC MAIL READERS
Gmail:
Seems Gmail can have problems displaying the mail properly. To retrieve the info asked for above, you'll need to view the source of the e-mail, i.e. the raw text of the message without Gmail having processed into something it tries (and fails) to display for you first.
There is a pull down menu on the upper right side of the shown email.
This can be used to view the source text of the email
(in German it reads "Original anzeigen" -view original-)
Thanks to Motomouse for providing this solution

It worked !. But the string with my download code had 2 extra characters in the beginning: "
3Dxyzxyzxyz", that are not part of the code (3D)
I am downloading the #&%$# thing as I type .
Nevertheless let me say that this was a bad experience and probably the first blemish in AGEOD's stellar curriculum.
The facts are:
- No one forced Ageod to make a pre-order available.
- No one forced Ageod to make the pre-order available today instead of the 14 or 15 November.
- A good number of us that paid the pre-order were unable to simply download it, even as others were having no problems at all.
- A mail that I sent to
ageod@nexway.fr got no reply whatsoever.
- The justification that it is not Ageod's fault but the distributors is not acceptable. It's Ageod's name that it's at stake, it was to Ageod that we paid the pre-order. The correct way to do things would be for them to make a public apology and to make an working link using for instance the activation code.
Hat's off to Rafiki and the other members of the forum for your help

=3D is the ASCII value of the = sign. it's often rendered that way by web browsers accidentally.

Thanks for this added information; the first post has been updated accordingly. I'm also happy that you were able to sort things out and get the download going

This whole thing has indeed been unfortunate, and I'm sure AGEOD and the download provider will be evaluating this to make sure it doesn't happen in the future. As you say, some people had no problems, while others had quite few, proving the complexity of the issue.
That said, I'd like to emphasize that by and large everyone was able to sort their problems out and get the download going, even if there was frustration along the way. Furthermore, I am sure AGEOD will do what they can to help those who still have problems.

When I got to the download page I was also told 7 days had expired and I was out of luck ...
Have emailed softela (the address on the page), but no word yet. Here's hoping I get a reply some time soon.
Not a good start, but I'm still of good cheer. Mike.

My problem for one seems to have been fixed, am now happily (no ...), anxiously (no ...), expectantly (yes!) downloading. Thankyou to all concerned.

As one of the critic voices about the whole affair of the "pre-download" it is only fair to state that:
- I finally managed to download it (thanks to Rafiki's post) and the first impressions are definitely up to my (enormous) expectations.
- The post by Phil Thibault was exactly what I expected from AGEOD. Hat's off to his (and the team's) dedication and profissionalism.

Download issue

by godochaos
I get the following error when I attempt to download my pre-order:
"We didn't find you in our database.
Please check that the e-mail address and the access code are exactly the same as in the e-mail order you received. "
I'm using my email address that I received the email for the pre-order download at, and its the email address I used to place the order (gmail)
I have sent emails about this to every email address I can find at AGEOD, but nobody has responded all day
I love AGEOD products, but this is a pretty simple process that other distributors seem to be able to master. It defeats the incentive of having me pre-order when I can't play the game early.
Anyone else have this issue?
New issue

I got thru the gmail issue by locating the tab to view the source and then finding my access code by doing a FIND on c=, then removing the 3D.
Now that I get to the actual download screen when I click on the button it says cannot find server
HAHAHA i have to laugh or I would cry
needless to say im not really laughing

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Just to be sure;
contact@ageod.com is among the addresses you have mailed, and you sent all relevant details about your purchase along with the mail?

Plus don't forget: AGEod is located in Europe. When your wrote your mails we were in the middle of the night here, that's why you've been waiting "all day".
Please allow us 24h to answer, if you sent everything we need to
contact@ageod.com, your problem should be solved in the next 8 hours ( offices are opening as I speak). AGEod has never let down anybody.

I want to echo what Korrigan says and I have absolutely no affiliation with the company. I just happen to be a thoroughly happy consumer for these reasons, and I want to point this out to first-timers who may be very frustrated with this tortured process to buy their game.
1. These independent developers are worth your money.
2. Their "patches" are more like updates. They repeatedly offer new features without charging you, even into the second year of the software, like BOA.
3. Personal service is amazing, considering it is rendered by programmers who actually are trying to build a game and another game and then another after that.
4. For as wonderful and flawless as all of their previous game releases, and as good as they are with customer service, I'm sure they're embarrassed by how brutal this launch has been.
I'm still waiting in the line with the rest of you. I can't download because of my lousy satellite service, but another customer was wonderful enough to burn the generic setup to disk and mail. I've paid and I'm waiting on the activation code so I can play, too.
I experienced inability to pay via PayPal because the only options were in French. My Visa rejected because of the international transaction. Visa authorized and confirmed after a phone call. But now I have no e-mail and no reply.
Does this change my opinion of Ageod, Pocus and PhilThib. Nope. Wonderful company, products, just lousy distribution and billing.
Wanted to make sure that first-time customers hang in there because these guys are worth it. But hurry -- we all want to play.

I was able to overcome my gmail problems with some help from y'all and i'm happily involved in giving napoleon an ulcer in Espana.
I'd like to thank the team at AGEOD for being responsive- once I realized it would be a little bit because it was like 2am in france .
thx

I'm glad that I advised patience. I still don't have the game after one week of trying.
1. Despite phone calls and supposed authorization by VISA, my transaction never did process because it is international.
2. Paypal payment to telechargement requires you to fill out a form in French, not English.
3. I finally figured out the French well enough to fill out Pay Pal.
4. The installation instructions and authorization code came back to me in French and I haven't received a reply from telechargement to send me the instructions in English so I know what to do next.
5. I'm unable to download because of my satellite restrictions.
6. A great fellow member of the forum is mailing me the generic setup of the game and I'm going to guess from my French installation instructions how to input the authorization code.
Bottom line: After 8 days, I'm not even close to playing. I've played a whole new campaign of the Civil War just to keep me hanging in there for Ageod.
You've got to really love this company, these developers and their games (which I do very much) to put up with this nearly impossible task of begging to give away your money to buy a game.
Pocus and PhilThib are so good about fixing, patching, upgrading and improving their games. I hope that with the next game that they are able to apply the same attention to detail with getting the product to customers.

I sent a head-up to Philippe Thibaut with your s...@h....Net adress included.
You should receive some news from him anytime now (it's 8:00 AM here).
Sorry for the inconvenience, it looks like your problem has more to do with Visa and Paypal but we'll fix it anyway. At worse, we will send you a personnal link for you to download the game while we fix this payment thing.
Best regards,
Korrigan
