I gather from reading the posts here that most of the experienced players here are playing mods that dramatically change the way you can 'turbo charge' your raising of early armies and other changes that make the game play more true to history. Can an oldtimer kindly let me know what mod is most popular so that I can begin playing it and start some PBEM games against the more experienced hands around here so I can learn how to whup they azz? (I know I will get handed mine first, but I am a quick learner!)

The RR mod is incorporated into the new patches, so no need to hunt that down. But the Leader Mod is really great. Lots of new faces to work with.

Hi
You also have Clovis mod
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=7517
is still on development, but it's playable already.
It seems to add a lot of very interesting tweaks to the game besides it includes also most of the changes from the Leader Mod.

And Jagger PBEM Mod

Never tried it but seems very comprehensive. As the name suggests, its intended for PBEM, not Ai game.

Still, i think most people (experienced or not) still play the regular game....
Regards!

I am playing now a Leader Mod PBEM, around 15 or 20 turns done.

This mod mainly changes the way the Chain of command can be done, forcing USA to put the BAD 3* as army commanders, and avoiding CSA 2000+ ultra powerful corps in the first months as just brigades can be added in the corps.

It slows a bit the early game (turbo-ing as you say is so less effective as before) and adds some spice to the game.

It seems to me a very very good improvement to the basically good vanilla.

I ve read also on Clovis mod, seems good but can not aid you about it.

Once spring 62 arrives, I believe the changes are diluted somewhat, but dont know for sure.
