how can you go about increasing the number of divisions you have?

You can increase the number of divisions you are allowed to field by event. The needed command is:
[font="Courier New"]
SetCombiUnits = 0; 0; DivNumber[/font]

DivNumber: Allowed number of divisions for the selected faction
