B&W Missing Portraits Packs

Hi all,

here are a couple of missing Portraits, quickly done from B&W pictures, as we are waiting for the ones in color by AgeOd.

They are a bit ghostly  , but I prefer them to the generic leaders. :coeurs:

The changed model files are based on 1.3

I'll go to 1.4 when my PBEM opponent upgrade to 1.4 as well. :niark:

There is a Setting file as well because of some text discrepancies that Pocus has fixed in the current 1.4 beta patch (if you don't install it or if my changes are not compatible with Pocus' ones, at worst some biography will not display properly).

Leaders so far:

  • A. Williams
  • B. Prentiss
  • C. Schurz
  • D. Butterfield
  • D. Hunter
  • D. Tyler
  • E. Keyes
  • E. Sumner
  • I. Richardson
  • I. Stevens
  • J. Parke
  • J. Ricketts
  • L. Wallace
  • P. Kearny
  • T. Meagher
  • T. Runyon
  • W. French
  • W. F. Smith

Enjoy ! :)

I also call dibs on Bartlett, Blunt and Stoneman. I don't know if they are in the game, but they all wear some funny hats. :cwboy:

I'm playing the Union right now, so I'll probably do more anonymous generals as they appear. :D

if you want us to add some of your creation officially, you should not add the hats, we never add the hats on portraits...

New version compatible with 1.5b, and with Jabberwock's colour portraits for the US. :)

Catlord,

What is the LocalStrings_ACW.csv file for ?

And is it needed ?

If so, does it change the way the game plays out ?

Thanks

It's because some leaders descriptions (Runyon, Hunter, Schurtz and Tyler, from memory) are still not displayed properly because their string all refered to "BrigGen" instead of their Name, both in their model file and in the String file.

I have corrected the string names and their model to point at the proper strings.

You can let the LocalStrings_ACW.csv as it is, but in this case you won't have description at all for the 4 of them (for the moment, the description is wrong anyway, they all point to the first one called Brigen, which is Hunter, I think), as the model file will point to an non-existing string.

These are maybe not as useful as the first two bunches . . . but they are (I think) closer to Sandra's original style than my previous work.

Edwin Sumner in full color
a new look for "Tardy George" Sykes (rename the original files if you use these)
George Crook - He's not in the game yet, but I've asked that he gets added soon.

Use these instead.

I touched up Crook and Sumner to make them look more like Sandra's.

Jabberwock has now officially accepted (with a freelance contract) to do all remaining generals, as the artist in charge had some big IRL problems and was unable to do the work.

Way to go Jabberwock,I was hoping this would happen, love your work.Sorry I have to ask,but what kind of time schedule are we looking at for this.Have played the first year of the war about ten times to learn the game and have been waiting for the rest of the generals pictures to start a full campaign.Best civil war game ever made, and I go back all the way to Avlon Hills Gettysburg.

I will try to get 15 a week done to start, hopefully improving to about 20 or 25 a week fairly soon as my skills improve. My previous work has all been as a programmer, I have had to boss artists around (like herding cats) but never tried to be an an artist, so it is painstakingly slow.

let me know when a complete pack is out

I like the demos of the B&W, so I would like to get a complete pack when it is finished in color. Thanks,

I remember seeing a freeware program that converts b&w photographs into color photographs. Look in this thread from StonyRoad (fan site for Paradox's HOI2):

http://www.stonyroad.de/forum/showthread.php?t=6369

Some shining examples of what can be done in there. Now I don't know what it requires to make them more artisty looking....

EDIT: ok, so it isn't freeware.... :fleb:

Still.... I'm trying the demo to see what some ACW images look like!
