Leader MOD & Missouri without Price

Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:30 pm

Just want to add some of my recent events... playing full campaign with leader mod-1.09d...

During all my PBEM games, I ve had problems with CSA in Missouri in case Price does not appear. I m sending generals too late? I dream Price will appear?

The only viable option I ve been able to achive with CSA (in case is NOT Lyon event -> makes Price not appear) is to abandon all of Missouri, and go back to the next depot, using Watie or some other general as division commander.

However I am trying to hold 1 city in MO at all costs... In the "vanilla" campaign I ve achieved some success, by sending any 2 generals, QUICKLY creating a division, and go on adding all kind of troops I can find (partisans / indians / militias / raiders / cavalry...)... I ve tried with lots of cavalry but these are not enough for the task... I believe.

But seems just this is totally impossible.... (Or even more hard) with your leader mod, as I can not create divisions until too late. USA player just must create a poor division, send him towards rolla & go forward... As CSA divisions start being available on OCTOBER -> USA has around 3 -4 months to send 1 division and overrun all troops there...

Some ideas?

I've finished one, and playing one with the Leader's Mod. The one finished was with patch 1.09, and the one i'm playing is patch 1.09e. In both games the Missouri event happened.

There's a slight chance that it won't fire (don't remember the percentage), so no Lyon or no Price early in the game. It makes the things much harder for the Confederate in the west, because MO will be loyal to the Union. You must be very unlucky :)

Although both sides get Lyon and Price later in the game, Price doesn't make much difference late in the game.

So basically it is all about luck (if no problems with 1.09d, never tried that).

For the divisions, i was able to held the Union back until October, cause Confederate brigades are big and effective, and they have the leader advantage, and you're playing the game in your terrain. They have to wait for leader activation, the arrival of better leaders and they have to cross rivers and harsh terrain and defeat you in battles and gain some ground. So it doesn't give them so much advantage against the South. I can't tell you anything special other than all the things written in the forums before though. If the event doesn't fire, you can fall back to Arkansas, and wait for the right time to counter-attack, if you think MO is so necessary. You can also make it without MO.

Hope it helps.

In my last PBEM the game ended with a division trenched in a depot... retreated to the depot just out of missouri, as Price also didnt came to me, and gave Watie a division.

Yes MO its "unimportant" compared with other areas...

Just thinking about the limitation on CSA Division creation... (I agree with it its more realistic as it goes in the mod)

In the main areas, CSA has enough brigades & leaders to stop a division...

just difficult in the far west... without price & his 3 extra regiments & no divisions!
