I'm doing a belated review of Great Invasions. I bought the old disc version. Is the patch for the AGEOD e-version important enough for me to buy the AGEOD version?
You don't need to buy the AGEOD version if you already own a copy of GI.
From the patch notes: "Note for those players who bought the Strategy First or Nobilis edition of Great Invasions: you may ask a key for applying the patch provided you can give proof of your purchase."
I would suggest that you send a mail to contact@ageod.com and ask for a key.
No, if you have disk version (from whoever it is) you cannot use the patch...it works only with the AGEOD version....but if you have bought a disk version, we shall gladly provide you with the AGEOD version (vs proof of purchase of the disk version of course ) so you can get the upgrade....

I would strongly suggest carefully reading the *beta* manual available on the game's official website before playing the game, otherwise nothing will make sense at all.
The story of the "Great invasions" game is quite complicated, and previous to the creation of Ageod.
Even if it's not the purpose of your review, I suggest you take a moment to ask Philippe Thibault to tell you about it if you're not familiar with it. It will help you in understanding the reasons of this old version/new version issue and why so many patches were needed.
