IIRC, AI files in the mod are more scripted toward historic objectives.

In practice, this means that Barbarians will be more determined to get areas they got historically, but will be somewhat reluctant to expand elsewhere.
But it was a few patches ago that I played a long game.

In fact we posted a clear advertising message clearly saying that the patch is only for the AgeOD version... :innocent:

What you can do is to send a private message to Philippe Thibaut asking for a serial key activation number... :siffle:

Here is the original post:

...

Important: This patch works for the AGEOD version of the game.
So, once installed, you will have to:
- launch the Setup tool;
- type again the serial key number.

Hi Calvinus

after playing the whole weekend i fear that the new "minor Ethnics assimilation tests" doesn´t work. :p leure: I still losing minor Ethnics every month. For example in Constantinople there are in January 350 20000 Greek, 12000 Hellenistic and 5000 Semitic people. In December 350 there are 12000 Hellenistic (this doesn´t chance because of dominant group) but only 6275 Greek and 1266 Semitic are left. This mean that after a few years there are only one ethnic group left per province/city.

If you used an old savegame, the former assimilation test took place as usual after one month. All following ones should be triggered evey x years instead, depending on what you have in your GameRules DB.

Just to be sure, I'll do some tests on my side, of course.

No, it was a new game.

So I have to investigate... ok, thanks.

But is it the same bug? I don't believe so.

Under the old rules, before 1.07c, the majority city/province ethnic would always assimilate everyone else. Note that the majority population in Constantinople is Greek, and the state ethnic of the ERE is ALSO Greek! So it should be the Greeks "eating" other ethnics.

But there's another thing - in your example, there is no assimilation, since the Hellenistic population stays at the same number. Other ethnics are just disappearing into thin air, rather than being assimilated.

I think that the problem is the current general tendency of urban populations to "disappear." People flee, get killed, etc. and they never return. It's pretty bad, because then the cities stay empty forever, but they don't actually disappear from the map, leading to a lot of "ghost cities" in any areas that were affected by major wars.

I am not 100 % sure but isn´t the state ethnic of ERE Hellenistic? I have installed the old version again and notice no difference to 1.07c. In both versions every month there are less people.

Actually, you are right, I checked it and the ethnic assimilation check is still performed every month, unfortunately, although your case was pretty strange (since the Hellenistic group wasn't growing).

By the way, the state ethnic of ERE is definitely Greek.

I tested locally in debug mode, just to be sure, and the assimilation tests are performed every 120 months. :bonk:

Please check inside your GameRules DB if there is a PAF line (it should be row #71 or #72), whose value should be 120 (months).

If no PAF line is present, it means there's something wrong in the patch.

I also double-checked the patch itself and it contains the updated vesion of the GameRules.csv DB... :bonk:

I think what you are experiencing is not an assimilation test.

The PAF line is present and the value is 120

By the way, I observed these processes over a few years in the 634 scenario...Basically, Constantinople is the worst-affected, but it happens everywhere - in Egypt, Italy, etc. So it's definitely not triggered by events/wars/pillaging/conversions or anything of that sort. Also, in my case the dominant ethnic *does* increase in size while others decrease, so it must be some kind of "assimilation."

I have too the PAF line. I changed the value a few time to see if there is a difference but it has no effect. I start every scenario to test it and it is everytime the same. You will losing a great amount of population in most provinces every month no matter of the scenario. :p leure:

To my knowledge, I remember that the assimilation process would "move" entire blocks of population from one ethnic to the dominant one. So that means you are not experiencing this effect. Instead you are suffering from a progressive decrease of population... It's a slightly different problem, annoying anyway I realise! :p leure:

I'll try to find some time for this issue, but you know I'm now totally committed on the military AI of the new project...

But why does the population of the dominant group increase in my case? I'll check it again, though.

Maybe it is a project that was already announced at the old Antik Games website a few years back? There where a number of goodies there. The games on the middle ages or the wars of Louis XIV looked good. :niark:

May I sugest that the link to this mod be corrected in Ageod's front page ?. The link in there leads only to a page where the last version is for 1.06a. :bonk:

Oh, and while you are at it, also update the link for the 1.07c patch, as the one on Ageod's page leads to a page where the last one is 1.07b... :siffle:

Patching-up

If you're already at 1.07, do you really have to do a fresh install for 1.07c, i.e., uninstall GI, reinstall GI, and then patch-up to 1.07c?

The GI version I purchased is 1.06.

As far as you are concerned, you have a full 1.07c version to install... :cwboy:
