Philippe Thibaut games

Sun Oct 07, 2007 8:45 pm

Ok, Grand Invasions is my first game of Philippe, but I want to know what did he do before - if you have any screenshots, reviews or something like that, please share :) I recall something about Pax Romana and History of Europe, but I'm not sure about it. So...?

I have done some boardgames years ago (Europa Universalis and La Grande Guerre)...

In computer games, I designed Europa Universalis, I also did Pax Romana (the game was unfortunately not finished because the studio went bankrupt at alpha stage), and the recent ones, you know.... :niark:

I was looking for EU when i saw on gamersgate the "staff favourite" AACW banner.

Reading the news, seeing the JPG made me change my mind. 3 weeks later i bought EU (and also NA) but i must say i play AACW 10 times more often than EU. Fate :)

EU is also a good game but this is more my kind of game (I am WiF and EiA boardgame player).

A bit more attention on some very small details in the planning phase would have made it a legend....and still...who knows, when NCP is out perhaps you'll have more time to dedicate to these details.
I can't wait to see NCP...it's evident it starts where AACW leaves...and besides finally i ll see Italy too. :)

I love this attitude ageod has, i think u ll be more and more successful in the future if you carry on this way. Great support, the game is alive, nice (and active!) community...these things aren't coincidences.

I just wished the Grand Campaign Project was a bit more lively. :indien:

You got me framed...AACW=boardgame feels, NCP <- Ex Empire in Arms player...all i need is a stock option on Ageod! :)

Then you'll be happy to hear a new turn might be in the works. :)

I'm still not satisfied with this answer :) I still want screenshots (or pictures in case of boardgames).

Now that I´ve found this thread...
Was there any extra work done for pax romana? I mean, beyond 1.02 patch.
It is really a pity. I have retried the game after being deeply disappointed with EU-Rome, and I definetely think it could have been wonderful.

Regards

Thanks for the comments. It is almost impossible to re-work the old Pax engine, because some of the source code and accompanying knowledge of it has been lost.... however quite a few of the game concepts and designs are still in my head and I really have plans to re-do this game in the future... but it cannot be before 2012 at the earlies (too many other very important projects to do before)... unless I could find 1,000,000 $ to finance a special team to do it ... :innocent:

I have EU III fully patched. I bought and registered a copy of NA. NA will not load into my EUIII game. VR and DDA both loaded and ran perfectly. Susana tells me "too bad about NA. I guess your machine is not compatible." I guess my investment into NA is down the tube . . . so sorry larry!!
I have EUIII NA on my desktop downloaded from GG. It will not run under EUIII. Do you have any suggestions? PLease. T

for me your best game is "Pax", also Eu2 and Great Invasions are excellent games ,but in my opinion "Pax Romana" is unbeatable.Graphics,Strategy in a word ....superb!...there s only a problem.....you know...
PS
(if it was a turn-base game as EU2 ,it was perfect)

Is Pax Romana worth buying? Is it even playable? I was dissapointed in EU:Rome as well, and would like to give Pax Romana a try, but not if it's basically unplayable, of course. I've seen it for sale at 4.5 euros, which is really cheap, but still not quite worth it, if the game is not worth playing.

Any advice would be welcome. :)

The game is playable, especially with its latest patch, but it was never finished because the company doing it went bankrupt long before...so there are a few things missings (like your "goal" to win), but the flow of the game is ok and it is rather stable...just remember it is an 1999-2002 development, so a 10-years-old game with standards not up to current levels (especially on the graphic engine which is ...'old'... ;) ).

You can get access also to the beta manual which will give you many more details...

Where can one buy it ? Any chance for buying it through Ageod webshop ? And where to find the patch/beta manual ?
(I might as well finish my all-inclusive Philthib games collection... :coeurs :)

I found it on play.com for 4.33 euros, including shipping. I guess I'll buy it, then, but I too would like to know where to find the patch and beta manual.

Well, for the 2nd time in the last few years, Play.com refuses to accept my money (problems with billing address ?!? :wacko :) , but good old Amazon solved my problem - so, Pax Romana is on my way
I guess now I will PM Philthib about the beta manual and patch...

I too just picked up a brand new copy of Pax Romana at Fry's in the bargain bin and wanted to play it, however, it is not responding to the compatibility feature of Windows Vista.
