giving fort bombardment one more try

I had to see if there was any way I could still make the the navy useful for amphibious support vs. coastal forts. So I built a 6500 point fleet + gave it 170 points of transports for support (that's right, it forms a staggered double file 2-3 miles long), and gave command to Farragut with Dahlgren assisting. The jpg contains the results (message 7). I have no problem with the damage ratio.
This doesn't need to be moddable variables, it should just be fixed.

There are variables in Bombard&Blockade.opt under Settings that we could tinker with..... Currently 20 to 5 efficiency in favor of the fort and 50 to 25 in max hits.
As I recall, it used to be the other way around: Ships were sinking forts with little damage to the ships.....

I'm waiting for the "seems about right" and "Well, that fort has level 8 entrenchments" and "what about frontage" commentary.

Absolutely, and that was awful. But I maintain no garrison could withstand sustained punishment from a parade like that sailing by at 700 yards offshore, unless it was above the maximum elevation of the guns. Even in bombproofs they would lose it after a couple days.

I'm aware of the variables, that was the most I could get in terms of a fix last time I tried this.
