Thanks Gray!

Purely cosmetic: Here area couple of towns/regions where the name could be placed slightly better so that it could be read. No idea how easy this is to fix, but thought I'd put it on the list.

River name change?

Mon Jun 09, 2008 5:17 am

Check out the pan handle of Florida.

The Apalachicola River flows from the North into the Gulf of Mexico.

However, when that river is in Georgia (until it reaches the Florida border) it is the Chattahoochee River.

The Chattahoochee and the Flint merge at the Florida border to form the Apalachicola River. Thanks!

There is a Jefferson City militia unit that is named just "9. 1" in the element detail screen and lower right area element list. (I think this unit was auto-generated after the city was captured and then not garrisoned by AI, if that helps find it.)

So this is towns/cities only, and not province names, correct?

Bellaire, OH misspelled

Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:11 pm

I just picked up ACW and am looking forward to digging in.

I was born in Wheeling, WV. Growing up, we visited Bellaire, OH more times than I can remember.

One thing that that I found puzzling was the spelling of Bellaire on the map (across the Ohio River from Wheeling, WV). The label on the map is spelled 'Ballaire'.

Nowhere can I find a historical spelling of Ballaire. Is this intentional?

Great. I guess with the last patch having been out for such a short time, it'll be a while before a new image is in the game. Or, if you have a fixed version, I'd be happy to test it out for ya. :)

EDIT: Posted too soon. Awesome! I'll check it out. Thanks!!!

Hate to be a nitpicker for a first post, but I've noticed more than a few errors within the state of Pennsylvania, using v1.10d. Most of them involve the region names being in the wrong areas across 2/3rds of the state. Should I list them all at some point, or just change the files myself and give them to Gray?

In the meantime, a couple of graphic town misspellings:
- Miflintown should be Mifflintown
- Sommerset should be Somerset

Jason :)

So has this change to the in-house program been done? I thought I read something earlier today about how region names will now be changeable via the xls files and no need to edit the region files individually.

Geographical Names in WV

Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:20 am

Some place change suggestions for WEST VIRGINIA. West Virginia did not become a state until 1863. The cities are sited correctly, but some county names are really out of place geographically. Here is a link to a Virginia County Map site http://www.familyhistory101.com/maps/va_cf.html

Town/City County in game Correct County Name
1) Parkersburg Ohio Co. Wood Co.
2) West Union Brooke Doddridge Co.
3) Clarksburg Clarks Harrison Co.
4) Wheeling/Moundsville Hancock Ohio Co.
(Moundsville is in Marshall Co.)
5) Area at tip of WV Beaver Hancock Co.
(Co. of Pennsylvania)
6) Rowlesburg Summers Preston Co.
7) . Wayne Flat McDowell Co.
8) Fayetteville Crawford Fayette Co.
9) Area called Greenbrier Summers Co.
10) Harper’s Ferry Harper’s Ferry Jefferson Co.
11) Ripley Marshall Jackson Co.
12) Moorefield Moore Hardy Co.
13) Petersburg Pendleton Co. Grant Co.
14) Franklin Franklin Pendleton Co.
15) Beverly Beverly Randolph Co.
16) Lewisburg Lewis Greenbrier Co.
17)Union Hardin Monroe Co.
18)Summersville Kanawha Nicholas Co.
19)Charleston Tyler Kanawha Co.
20)Barboursville Pleasant Cabell Co.
21)Louisa part of Kentucky not WV Area could be called Wayne Co. WV

This appears to have gone uncorrected - I was surprised to find some of the VA militia I built appearing south of the border in Edenton.

Could it be added to someone's already over-burdened to-do list (sorry, Gray).

(This is under 1.12a rc5)

There is a very minor error in the newspaper article associated with the "Sam Houston's Fight against Secession" event. The article says the event occurred in Feb. 1860 when it should be 1861.
