Calculator error in FI (1.14)

Mon Jul 20, 2009 7:30 pm

I have notice an accounting error for the FI in version 1.14- with no hot fixes.

The French Intervention in Mexico is meant to cost -10 FI points for the CSA in late Feb 1862 (turn 22). The tooltip tells us that. But in fact the computer is adding the ten points to the FI score.

Note:
Before NM= 105 and FI= 22

After NM= 108 and FI= 34
the NM went up +1 each French Intervention, First Confederate Congress, Davis inaugurated
FI went up +10 for the French Intervention and +2 normal increases

I noticed it in an active April 1861 vanilla campaign PBEM that has reached this turn. I'm not the host
The screenies are from a test I just ran using the April 1861 KY option on to see if it was there too- which it is.
I'll try to put the saved game file in the next post

Gray_Lensman wrote:The tooltip is incorrect. There is supposed to be less chance of FI when France intervenes in Mexico (France is now somewhat occupied elsewhere, i.e. Mexico) .. Less chance means a higher FI number, NOT a lower FI number... So the math is correct, but the tooltip is misleading.

I'll look into correcting the tooltip in the next QuickFix..

OK now I'm confused. So if France invades Mexico it should make triggering FI harder? If so wouldn't this lower the FI number? Cause from the sound of it right now the trigger moves more towards having the FI happening. If the opposite is supposed to happen, making FI more unlikey, then wouldn't the tool tip be right and the event wrong?

I think you are correct. As I understand it, a higher FI number means a higher chance of FI occurring. I think Gray has it backwards.

Just wondering whats the status on this one? Cause with it basiclly making the FI +20 of what it should be, it really is overpowering to triggering the event.
