Presumably the underlying mechanics are still the same ie checking initial seniority against present seniority.
Personally I would rather randomisation only changed the stats and retained the existing initial seniorities. ie. it only randomises their effectiveness not their relative seniority.

I don't think we are disagreeing :)

Hi, Sorry about the corrupted files ... I'm afraid that I have the technical knowledge of a retarded newt :bonk: ! I've tried again using WinZip12.1 to compress them and making sure that the "Compress Files" button has been selected before saving. Hopefully they'll work this time, although I don't think you really need them as you understand my point perfectly.

Thanks for looking at this.

I have but 2 lines to remove so that the initial seniority is not randomized... but this was a feature I added voluntarily. Some generals will be promotable from the start, some will have a big hump to overcome (if they start with a worse seniority that the base). This is good for me in a game where the player want randomization.

Now, I won't strongly defend the feature, it just happened during coding (sort like: hey, and if I randomized seniority ;) ). I'll discuss the matter with Michael if need be.

As for 'initial generals should never be promotable', this can't be. For the system to work, you must have an absolute seniority (4 or less) where a general can be promoted, even if he does nothing. Otherwise you have some problem in the logic of the system.

problem with unit id 14 model?

Sat Jun 27, 2009 11:12 am

8:08:18 PM (Reporting) TListModels.Create 1016 models loaded, out of 1016 models files in 7639 ms
8:08:18 PM [Critical ] TListModels.Get Data container for models definitions has some discrepancies, for UID 14

I assume I've got a wrong model for uid14?

This is the latest RC over a copy of my "normal" ACW which uses no mods.

I highlighted 2 things:
1. Edmund Smith is a 2 star general.
2. It's the turn immediately after he activates.

I attached the entire file because I noticed he was 2 stars in the preceding turn. Smith starts out as 1-star seniority 9 or 10, and there's no way he could have gotten 4 seniority points while being locked in place. Something's wrong with the game, methinks.

I'm the USA. I don't play as the CSA because I get error "clusters" as that side.

And the next turn, I got this error. FYI, the unit in question is actually from Iowa and is by itself, if that is indeed what this is talking about.

And then this.

And a CTMM with this.

OMG, I think we have another cluster. Maybe it has something to do with how I keep alt-tabbing to report these?

Same thing.

Then several more errors and a CTD.

OK, thanks ...

I installed this over my saved game with RC17, and so far, after a few turns, NO crashes. I noticed a little more info while battles were in progress. However, no supply segment. I hope supplies are movin' along!!!!

Problem:
The CSA in the 1862 West Campaign has no construction resources even though the thing at the top says it does. Also, the thing at the top says it has no production of WS, but Memphis and other cities produce WS. The second part is also true in the Shiloh scenario.

I'll check for the disappearance of the supply message phase.

As for generic promotion + randomization , this is a side effect indeed. The promotion rule itself has not changed, but now you can have a leader have a seniority of 4 or less easily, and it can always be promoted (because of generic promotion)
