Renaming issue in 1.11d

Renaming (ctr+alt+ left click) in 1.11d + Historical Accuracy MOD (maybe this has already been fixed in the public betas?) doesn't work on locked units when there are also unlocked units in the same area. Doing the ctr+alt+left click on a stack with locked units prompts up the renaming for the first unlocked stack in the area no matter what.

When a locked stack is alone in an area the renaming works just fine.

EDIT after some confusion: For anybody "accidently" reading this (like, for example saerching with the key word "rename" ;) ) :

TO RENAME A STACK, PRESS ALT AND LEFT-CLICK THE NAME
(also notice that armies can't be renamed)

:)

The issue is not with stacks with both unlocked and locked units. The problem is if you have a stack with *only* locked units in a same area with at least one other stack that has at least one unlocked unit :)

EDIT: Ie remove that balloon and and wagon from that stack but keep them in the same area, and then try to rename the locked stack.

Nope. For example the stacks in St.Louis. Lyon got released, I formed a division around him and renamed the stack to "Lyon Div". Then I stacked together all the locked units in St.Louis and tried to rename them to "StLouis Gar". Everytime I tried to rename that stack, I got prompted to rename "Lyon Div".

Another example (and another game): In Richmond I renamed the stack of released leaders to "Leaders", stacked together all the locked units there and tried to rename the stack to "Richmond Gar". Got prompted to change the "Leaders" stack every time.

I am on early shift today, so home in a few hours. Once I get home I'll put together a FRAPS of what I am doing, maybe that could show the thing better?

Yes, I am starting to suspect this myself. Have to test with just alt pressed once I get home.

Thanks for your replies! :)

I also have found this but solved the problem myself. All you need to do is keep saying no to the unit you do not wish to rename whilst still holding down the <ctrl> & <alt> keys and it then goes through all stacks in the area. Just keep say no to the ones you do not need to change.

I did a search with "rename" as I wanted to know if this game has such an option, and the first two posts coming as result are:
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showpost.php?p=107307&postcount=2
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showpost.php?p=109290&postcount=53

I tried with control click and it didn't work, then I tried control-alt click and it did work...

I swear that I saw Pocus mention using Ctrl somewhere... that's where I got the idea that you needed to use the Control key, at least.
*shrug*

And then of course I opened my big mouth about it, so everyone else seems to have picked up on it...

Actually, it might have been that post from arsan that I saw. I remember trying it and it not working right away, then figuring out that it worked with <ctrl> + <alt>, so I probably assumed too much there.

Yes it surely was my fault ;)
In my Spanish keyboard this feature works with ctrl and not with alt :bonk:
But just with cntrl plus left click. No need to use both control+alt
Probably it only applies to Spanish keyboards (or MY Spanish keyboard at least! :blink :)
Sorry for the confusion!

well, I've yet to run into the problem described here. I can try to recreate it in a few minutes though.

ps.: no worries arsan. I've made similar mistakes myself plenty of times.
