crash when pulling out corps commander

Fri Aug 01, 2008 2:12 pm

I don't know if you are aware that it crashes all the time when you declared a corps commander with several other units within the tab.

Say, the corps commander is within one tab with other units and generals. You now declare this guy corps commander and want to pull him into another tab, the game crashes.

Hi v.Manstein,

thanks for the report. I assume you use the newest patch?
Can you please send your savegame together with instructions how to reproduce the crash to support@ageod.com?
I would also like to have the file "Main log.txt" it contains the error message. (Directly after the game crashed, if you restart the Main log will be deleted.)

Can someone else confirm this issue?

Cheers
Norbert

Sounds similar to a crash I had recently. I am not sure it was the corps commander I was pulling out, but it was definitely a stack of generals in Washington. Sorry I did not retain a game save, it was a few day ago.

I know how to avoid it and it is just a nuisance when I forget to save beforehand and do the corps promotion.
Otherwise this game is bloody stable!

He just didn't get it out in an "official" update before he went on vacation. The problem is the "promotion flag" stays with the stack when you promote a leader to say a Corps Commander or whatever while he is in a stack". The temporary solution is to remove the leader from the stack by himself before promoting him.

The promotion bug is known, true, but the problem v.Manstein reported is a different issue. It occurs if you declare a stack as a corps and then move the corps commander to another stack.
Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce this problem while it works every time for v.Manstein.

Gray_Lensman wrote:Ah, interesting, but I'm trying to visualize why you would want to move the Corps commander to another stack without removing him from Corps command first anyhow. I thought you could reform same turn without cost, unless he is doing a multi-turn move first? I forget, does it even have a cost? Too much editing/rework and not enough playing...

Well, I usually have all my commanders all in one stack. Then there I promote one eligible commander to corps commander. After that, I pull him into my units stack. That's why.
I hope there is no penalty for me dong that.

Thanks for fixing it.
