Suggestions for commands and shortcut keys I'd like to see

Fri Apr 20, 2007 6:24 am

As the number of hours playing this game increases (and will continue to do so), one of my "subprocesses" has been thinking about things that might make it easier/quicker to manage my ever increasing armed forces.

Commands I miss

I like the possibility of putting units on "sentry", i.e. that they are skipped during E-R'ing through the forces. However, I'd like the possibility of setting a unit to be skipped for this turn only, i.e. that it will be included in next turn's E-R'ing (much like using the spacebar on units in some other games). This especially because if you unselect a unit (e.g. to have a look at messages), the E-R'ing starts from the same "first" unit again.

I'd also like to see a "sentry-till-healed"-command, i.e. a command that will make a unit act like it has been "sentried" till it has recovered full cohesion. Perhaps also have a command for waiting till it has recovered full strength and another one for both full strength and full cohesion, if one really wants to provide options :) When used on a stack, it would apply to all units in the stack.

Shortcut keys I miss (in my subjectively prioritized order)
- One for "Use rail" (could have one for "Use river transport" too, but I myself use that much less, so the need is less)
- One for "Delete all movement orders"
- One for combining/splitting divisions

Detaching: CTRL - D

we will see for the rest as soon as time allows :)

Appreciate the consideration :)

(And the impossibly short lapse of time before getting feedback on this!)

The more I play, the more I miss "sentry till next round" and "sentry till healded/rested". I'm sure you're bored and without anything to do now that you're well back from vacation, arne't you, Pocus? :)

Thought I'd copy/paste this from another thread I created. :bonk:

Create a single key shortcut that houses a unit in a structure immediately (similar to right-click after placing a unit on the structure). How about the 'H' button?

It can be difficult to place the unit straight over the city/town and you run the risk sometimes of actually moving them out and losing entrenching bonuses. This will make it much easire to expediate unit organization and orders when dealing with several units in one region.

some shortcuts will be worked upon within a few weeks, hopefully before the release of BOA2.
