Please... !!!

Mon Jul 23, 2007 1:26 am

Can we have important expensive units built in the large Cities, hopefully well back from the front.

I just had Curtis, dug in to 5 with a full Division retreat from Padauce Ky.( sp ) when a CSA stack advanced into the area.

Strange as that was... :8o: of course a Ky. Field Battery was about to be compleated there. Since it`s locked I can`t move it and it will no doubt be captured the next turn.

This has happened more then once in playing, to me as well as to the AI.

Can we please do away with the randomized unit build locations within states and just have the Units show up in the States Big Cities well back from the front ?

...and beyond that, what about having the reinforcements come on in just one place in each State ? I love the " flavor " of having different States units
represented, but quite honestly it would save a ton of mouse clicking moving them from all over the Map to a front line center where the divisions are created.

Thanks

Don't build unit is a Border State until it is completely secured. It doesn't take long to learn that lesson.

I disagree. E.g. when you raise militia with the purpose of garrisoning, it's nice if they arrive in cities without other units, since that's where you have the most use for them.

Border city building is a risk. What is being represented, is the raising of regiments and their conglomeration into a brigade in a local mustering point. The troops are all from local counties, so they are formed in this region. The troops you lost from that battery, were most likely raised from the town/countryside that was just captured.

I like it as is. It's part of the fun - for me, anyway - organizing my forces into a cohesive army. I think it better represents the reality than to have all units appear in certain "safe" cities. Boys signed on everywhere during that war. Regiments formed in the countryside towns, not just in the big cities away from the action.
