Personality traits

In the 1755 Campaign, Francois Pouchot is a 1 star leader that starts in Ft. Niagra and has the personality traits of Fort Defender; which gives him a -1 seige bonus, and Engineer; which gives him a +1 seige bonus. If I am understanding the traits correctly, wouldn't these two traits cancel each other out. It seems like these two traits would both be beneficial, but the numbers would simply cancel each other. Is this correct? Is Fort Defender a negative trait? I had always assumed it was a positive one.

As I understand it, Fort Defender is used when defending against a seige, and Engineer is used when conducting a seige. The first is on the defence and the second on the offence.

Engineer grants a +1 for both Attacking a Fort or Defending a Fort. The way that the descriptions are written seems imply that both traits can't be beneficial because they would conflict with each other. Maybe it should be either Fort Defender grants a +1 OR, Engineer grants a +1 on the Attack and a -1 on the defense. Or maybe Fort Defender is a negative trait but I don't really think so.

both traits are positives, its just the wording which is a bit awkward.

I'll rewrite the thing

If you could provide me with a good English wording of the text, it will be all the better

Just by inserting the word Benefit or Penalty after the number would make it more clear. For example, Fort Defender provides a -1 bonus when this Leader is defending a Fort. That would make it clear that the negative applies to the Attacker and not the Defender. I am still unsure though, how a negative number can be good with the Fort Defender trait and at the same time a positive number can also be good with the Engineer trait when defending in a seige. If a positive modifier is bad for the Attacker, then Fort Defender should provide a +1 Bonus to the Army when a Leader has the Fort Defender trait. On the other hand, if a negative modifier is bad for the Attacker, then Engineer should provide a -1 when a Leader with that trait is defending a Fort in a seige.

Do leader personality traits stack their effects?
If I had for example two militia enhancing generals, do I get twice the TQ bonus, or is only one of them counted?
If I had two fast movers, or a fast mover and a faster mover, do those attributes stack, or do you just get the bonus of the best (faster mover) in that particular category?

I'm almost positve that they do not stack. I think that the highest ranking leader's trait would be used before a subordinates similar trait.

they dont stack, but its not hard -coded, its because a given param in the ability has been set like this.
