Is there a way to recover the strength of a regiment? Certain ones like the von Reidsel will recover strength, however I have a regiment of black watch with the 4 companies all at 2-3 strength and 20 replacements of English regulars sitting around and they never recover any strength.
Also supply and ammunition never really seems to be an issue even if I don't bother to bring any supply trains anyone else feel like this?
Also is ambushing working correctly, since even when you succeed in setting one there isn't any icon or anything indicating you are in ambush mode

I have seen the ambush icon.

As far as supply goes, I agree-I don't have it figured out either. It seems that the "wagons" would help those long treks, but I need to compare with vs. without.

I wonder if setting some units to get priority for replacements would be good idea. I like it, but maybe it's too much micrmanagement. On the other hand, some of those "favorite" units should get priority, and it could be fun "chrome".

Yeah, you want to take care of those Marbleheader and Royal Marines.

For the time being, replacements are granted automatically to units that need them. As for the special units (Black Watch, RM and so on), they need special replacement that are rarer...there are not as many scots willing to get killed in the Americas as englanders right now

We have started working on a feature for allocating replacements with a bit more of player's interference, but it will come after more crucial changes have been effected.

As for the ambush, the icon will appear normally on top of the army if you succeed in setting one up. Of course, this would be useless if nobody comes in the trap :bonk:

In that field again, we are working on some features that will increase ambush likeliness...

your black watch dont need replacements, in the BOA sense, as a replacement is used to get an element back into the regiment, and your regiment has already 4 companies/batalions/elements/whatever.

What you need is to let the 4 elements recover hit points. For that you must be in supply, in a region with a city (target a level 2 city at least), and with an excess in supply points. That being done, you will see that the regiment will gradually recover (will take some months if each element has only 1 hit point remaining).

A nice addition would be to have a replacement used to speed up this hit point recovery, provided you can spare one (have enough in stock). (in a patch!)

Ambushing must be reset each month, its not a persistent order. (Force March work in the same manner)

As for supply usage, you wont lack supplies in areas where you control several cities or harbors. Also note that supplies is drawn automatically even from adjacent regions.

This doesnt mean that supply units are worthless. Try to advance in hostile canada (no control of regions, not cities), in winter, and you will cry to not have supplies units!

Beside that there is 3 important roles for supplies units. I will add a thread on that...

Thanks for the supply tips in the other thread. That will help curb the "Canadian wilds death march" I had last game...

Weight = Transport amount needed?
When a region says supply level 7 does that mean it can support 7 units?
Since you can draw supply from surrounding areas is there a way to see the total supply available to an army in that region?
How about an easy way to see how much supply an army needs?
