Portage........

Fri Mar 17, 2006 6:43 pm

i LOVE this game........if i could change one thing, though, it would be the addition of portage to the mix......it was an important part of travel in the wilderness during the period and i think it would add a whole lot to the game......in addition to being able to embark an army on boats, it would be nice to be able to embark boats (bateaux) on your army :) to get them around those falls, etc......with the requisite time penalties, of course

and to the credit of Peter, he loves the game while having the "privilege" of being the sole player with a BSoD error from time to time!

By the way Peter, you can get the patch for this scrolling problem tomorrow if you want to test it (at the same time as the beta that is).

Ok, for this portage thing: this was in the original design, but it was a bit tricky in the code. The best thing to do would be to be able to convert the boats to a land unit state, with a special order. Perhaps Philippe has some ideas on this, as the designer too.

I thought of the same thing, "Portage", but thought it would be a little difficult for the developers to implement as a quick patch.
It is a good idea and something that would add to the game, maybe for 2.0 :siffle:
