I just bought the game last night, and have been perusing the manual. I'm becoming more and more excited to actually play the game - I have the feeling that this is going to be the most fun I've had since EUII or CIV. And I've played all the Paradox and AGEOD games. Just wanted to thank Alexander an...
This has happened a couple of times in my current game: A division commander (one star) is labelled as the the corps commander, even though a two-star general was chosen to form the corps. In this instance, Hamilton should be the corps commander, but the tag shows that it's Keyes' Corps. So my quest...
No problem with the retreat path, but I was in all-out assault posture, with coordination on. There was no log entry concerning a retreat failure. There had been a large battle at Smolensk in the previous turn, with a couple of other corps involved, and heavy losses on both sides. Thinking to surpri...
Twice in PBEM games, playing the 1812 Campaign, the whole French army has just vanished after a big battle. Loads of casualties, for sure, but shouldn't vestiges of the various corps and divisions remain? In the latest incident, I had Napoleon with Grand Army HQ, and 3 full-strength corps, attacking...
In a PBEM game my opponent and I have experienced a couple of strange things: 1) The Russians have been presented the option to have two artillery units moved upfrom Paris to Warsaw; 2) After a small battle at Smolensk, in which Napolean's Grand Army HQ was involved, Napolean simply disappeared from...
I've read the threads here and the WIKI FAQ, but still have this question: if Kentucky goes 'neutral' due to a Confederate invasion, is that the same as Kentucky being essentially Union now? It shows as part of the Union on the economics map. Can the Union now carry out attacks in Kentucky without f...
Two elements I'd love to see in a future patch: 1) As has been mentioned in other threads elsewhere: a report in the battle log, indicating the flow of battles: who entered battle, when they entered, effect of auxiliary forces, such as flanking by cavalry, and on and on; 2) a report in the long on w...
For three weeks, in my Thames or Danube campaign, I have given attack orders to the Italian Army in Bergamo. The enemy forces are likewise in Bergamo. The Italian Army (Massena) has been active all three turns. All three turns have passed with absolutely no action. Also no report in the weekly log a...
I'm playing The Thames or Danube campaign, and my Coalition opponent is able to send his Cossacks behind my lines at will. I have attempted to set up cavalry screens, but the Cossacks just go right through them. How to keep enemy cavalry from ranging at will behind my lines? Thanks for any help.
Looking for an opponent. I just got stomped on, playing USA. I'd like to try again as USA, April '61 Campaign. No more than one turn a day normally, and on weekends maybe only one turn for the two days. PM me if interested. Thx.
Watching the leaders inside the battle clock closely, one can see a tiny rectangle, with a number inside it, at the base of the leader icon. That number changes as the battle progresses. Can you explain what that number tells us?
Upon completion of an 1807 Campaign, I received a 'stalemate' popup, and below that were three or more lines of text in a shade of white/grey, against a white background. I could not read the text, so have no idea what it said about the stalemate. By the way, my opponent received a 'victory' popup f...
would be nice to have a report on the blockade, given to both sides. For the Union, a general report on how much Sourthern shipping, production, etc. has potentially been curtailed. For the South something more specific.
If this is already available, I've missed it. I've only played the North.
I was wondering if AGEOD might consider a Classical era game, using some modification of the the AGEOD engine. Specifically a Roman Republic/Empire era game.
It would add historical flavor to the game and be reasonable if each side could get new reports from the other, for example when one side or the other calls a draft, issues bonds, whatever.
Glad you are working on our next turn though. Oops, gave away some state secrets. General Mac is claiming that I must be working for his enemies, trying to destroy his grande plan for victory. Genl. Fremont agrees. Genl. Grant says it doesn't matter, we're moving south no matter. Mr. Lincoln for on...
I cannot figure out why E. Sumner's command shows as being in Scott, MO, entrenched, and yet the tooltip and the tab for it shows it being in Reel, MO.
Based upon what I read in another thread, here's the only way I know of to add to an already formed division: add a unit or more to the stack, dissolve the division, recreate the division in the same turn. Then there will be no new cost for creating the division. Is that the only way to add or detra...
I do wonder if the Top hat photo and the white glove salute photo that were discovered this year are in fact Lincoln or the man to the right (Lincoln's left) in the photo discovered in 1952. In it Lincoln isn't wearing his top hat but the gentleman next to him is and has a beard. EDIT: I see that s...
What's the effect of leaving AI turned on when playing PBEM? I'd like to play some solo games too. Do I have to turn the AI off when executing the PBEM turns?
Twice I've had the situation where the game reports that a commander has issued conflicting orders, and has been placed in a defensive posture. In neither case could I ever determine what the problem was. Anyone know how to figure it out?
What are your favorite books on the Napoleonic era? Some years ago I read a three-volume narrative of the era, with a focus on the military campaigns. I liken it to Shelby Foote's work on the ACW, in that it was a very readable but in depth narrative. But I can't remember the name. Does it ring a be...
