Re: Rise of Prussia, Revolution under Siege and Civil War nostalgia and engine question

I think jump from ancient times to 18&19 century will be big for modders. I remember first RUS developed then RUS gold and Espana. AJE needed big testing maybe. If maybe another game about recent centuries with the new engine it will be easier for modders&scenario designers to have perspecti...

Re: Player Notes on Revolution Under Siege

From my experience previous pbems there is anarchist faction player controlled and autonomous one, it serve the front realistic well against S. Whites. Poland is a bit tricky maybe it should need another player and Reds need a bit more strength. Defensive battles are powerful. Was it in reality.

Re: Which Ageod game first to learn?

I think American Civil War was one of the best conflicts Ageod created a game on it. Also I've great respect for Philippe Thibaut and Andatiep. Once upon a time they decided to design Turkish War of Independence (1919-1922) It would be very interesting game to play against Sultan, foreign interventi...

Habsburg, Ottoman and Romanov etc... For decadence&culture grand strategy? For a route in this maybe this can be better era in future. Political decisions and such. It can be rich and detailed more accurate info maybe.

Re: New engine in XVII/XVIII/XIX century games

What I see from Matrix forums, conflicts heavily oriented on WW'2. No offense but American players dominate wargaming industry. Rarely I see such as Iran&IRaq war in Campaign Series: Middle East 1948-1985 future design. Hope to see more cossacks more European conflicts in 17&19century. :feu:

Re: Fatal Years

That maybe unfortunate bad language if that happened but I always think Clovis had a creative side in old Ageod engine. I followed his blog and beta test his version in pbem with 3 players in the past. Although any game is a history now apart from Field of Glory: Empires. Combined effort would be ve...

Re: Can anyone explain why I lost the campaign?

Yes I think I've used in last game. Although I don't remember dictatorship event happened in game. My theory is more about defense stronger -maybe stronger than in should be- in previous Ageod games including Rus. Newer titles have more higher offensive ratings than the defensive one in unit models....

Re: Can anyone explain why I lost the campaign?

If the Red player understands how to form divisions and armies under political officers, which is a mystery to most players for a long time, then the game is very balanced. Maybe it is even slightly favorable to the Red side as a solid Red player can take advantage of the optimum options/cards. The...

Re: Can anyone explain why I lost the campaign?

I agree. But my point wasn't about how much historical RUS is. :) It was about balance in VP for pbem about the difficulty for the RED side to win the game against similar level opponents. There is a goal for sure but not realistic in pbem for the Reds capture those locations with this army size. Hi...

Re: Can anyone explain why I lost the campaign?

Game should have more clear goals and balance in pbem. VP should be well thought. Rus Gold designed by volunteer Andatiep. If more further support would have been given to him may be it would be popular as Strategic Command in Matrix forum. Because it is unique topic and engine. Competitive pbem is ...

Re: strategic/operational/tactical level

Don't forget it's the very first Ageod game with the new engine. I'd think for future games the scales of space and time (regional seize and turn span) may vary, depending on the game subject. This game is about "our" antique world. So it's better to compare it with AJE rather than with A...

Re: strategic/operational/tactical level

I don't think anything is set. But there is no reason why you couldn't remake say Rise of Prussia using this engine, even better it would be easier to intergrate with the WiA scenario - a key gain is the British reinforcements can only be used once .. on the Rhine or to shore up N America. That alo...

Re: strategic/operational/tactical level

I watched Twitch stream of Empires and it seems Empires will be more Empire building games vs strategy/tactical games of previous titles. I feel that we can't have it all. If they tried to put it all in one game, it could end up a mess. Empires feels like a Civ/TW type of game. thats clear for me, ...

Soviet&Poles war is tough for Reds in pbem campaign scenario. In single scenario, much better chance but still not easy.

Short scenarios also good. They have different political options. It is always good to play all scenarios in chronological order in pbem or maybe solitaire to know better their strength. It is fun.

Historical thing aside (I have no knowledge), part of the problem in sea battles were intercept order. It did make stronger side in navy way more stronger. I advise for a house rule not to use this order. If there is exploit in activation rolls for admiral&naval leaders then no activation rule i...

Re: (BOR - Punic Wars) Roman Consuls Won't Fail Activation Rolls

I think I've read before there is no advantage in sea battles whether commander is active or not. In both Punic Wars sea battles can be very devastating for Carthage. It can be historical (don't know for sure). But in general for all games sea battles needs a bit improvement. It was also very devast...
