Possible Bug in First Punic War + Thoughts on Carthaginian AI

Just played the Punic War for the first time, chose the Romans, and won the game after conquering Sicily. Unfortunately, I either had the "luck of the gods", or there was a bug with my Consuls. I never once had an inactive Consul or Dictator, which made the campaign a whole lot easier than it should...

Play as the Union in the Shiloh Scenario. Almost impossible to lose, and gives you a better sense of how the command structure works in CW2. The Sibley Campaign really isn't a beginners scenario, as you have to use a much more delicate style of strategy. If you've played Wars in America, you would f...

I certainly hope they will be. Your scenarios for the original were excellent! They really added value to that game. If they do, will you attempt to bring them over?

Thank you for taking time on reply. When the cursor is on the nato symbol for Baylor (division commander) I get a box to the left with all the units in it but they show no bars or numbers and you can't click on them. This is just as manual describes. And no, clicking on Baylor only gives Baylor's b...

Has any one run into problems with this new Army system? It seems like an incredibly easy way to circumvent the Union seniority problems. Just create 5 new Armies in order to ensure Grant gets his without any penalties. Is there a limit on the amount you can build? Otherwise whats to stop Union play...

I prefer the old ones. Nathan B. Forrest doesn't scare me anymore.

Edit: After looking at the Graphics/Units in AACW, and in Graphics/Units/Leader Units in CW2, it would seem that a simple switch is possible? Maybe a mod could be made for people wanting the old time feel with the new features?

It's interesting and fun, reminds me of the WIA scenarios where you must make use of small forces and play the cat-and-mouse game with your opponent, where quite suddenly the hunter can become the hunted. But I'm having an issue with an insane amount of replacements being made automatically. I am NO...

Yes, i tested it yesterday using ALT+click. It works most of the time. Strangely, i did not manage to change the name of a newly created army, but managed to change the name of any others stacks. Maybe a bug. You've never been able to change Army names as those are tied to the region in which they ...

Yes, ALT+click will open up it as usual. We still can't add apostrophes (" ' ") which is annoying to someone like me who likes to see proper grammar on my Corps' names. " ' "still opens the console.

A Few Quick Issues

I launched the game to just take a brief look at what's new and I noticed a few problems. 1) In the July-Campaign Start, their is a double garrison in San Francisco (Central California Garrison I believe?) 2) Some Artillery units in the Confederate Army of the Potomac are mistakenly displayed and co...

I just finished a book on Antietam by Stephen W. Sears (Landscape Turned Red - which I highly recommend as it was an excellent read), and he would tend to disagree with those points, and in any case the facts still aren't too friendly to McClellan. 1. We know that McClellan had the complete layout o...

This could work very well for traits coming to play a role on the battlefield as well. "Surpriser" could actually have a meaningful role if your opponent can only deploy in what works out to be a very unprepared formation, or new traits could be made, like "Flanker" for generals such as Jackson or L...

Perhaps some Loyalty/Objective Adjustments in Tennessee?

Perhaps this is too late to bring up, and you may have already fixed it for ACW 2, but I'll say it anyway. In the original game, the Loyalty of Tennessee is decidedly Confederate, in fact 100%. However this was simply not the case. The original referendum for secession was very divided and defeated ...

Game looks great! Too bad the reviewer was a beginner or we could have seen more in depth features. My main hopes are 1: Improved AI (obviously). I found in many games as the Union I never faced any Army-sized force outside of Virginia. A couple of larger campaigns would be an excellent addition, and hopefully most, if not all, of the old campaigns would make a return as well.

I see this only being of use if there is serious effort in making 1863 and 1864 Campaigns more playable, as right now supply issues make these campaigns almost unplayable for the Confederates. Or a seriously revamped AI as right now most campaigns go to mid 1863 at the latest, with many over in 1862...

Smaller divisions also allow you to tailor the elements with the leader. Say you have a cavalryman leader, then you'll probably limit yourself to an handful of cavalry elements. Unfortunately most Generals with Cavalryman trait are good commanders so I use the slightly gamey technique of elevating ...
