Re: Blockade Stratigy

Hey, pgr, there was a pretty meaty discussion on the topic in the thread: http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=331&t=43186 I had some data tables in there but the new forum seems to have broken them.. I'd agree that getting a decent blockade in place without heavy investment is fairly easy...

Re: AJE doesnt start

Hey pot79, It looks like the error message you posted are files used by Microsoft to send crash reports. You may need to find and post the error logs from the game to find a solution. There are some instructions on how to do that here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=309&t=25861

That sounds great. I'd buy it. Hopefully, if and when the time for CW3 comes ageod will have changed their tune on less complexity.

Re: Just Curious - Any Way to Stop An All-East Union Strategy Featuring 3-star Grant?

Thanks for the informative post Orso. It sounds like a truly accurate historical command structure would be a nightmare to model. And not very fun to play. I think the current system works okay. Another step or two of depth could be good, but anything beyond that would turn into a micromanagement sl...

I like the orange/red scheme, but the bright white bugs me out.

Hopefully we can get back attachments, a forum without them is.. just bad.

Man... Swapping out an option file takes like three or four mouse clicks... Soo much work. Storage space is so cheap now days everyone should be able to afford a car/radio station for their entire family.

Re: CSA Template vs Union

Here is a sarcastic event that will change the balance of the game: Upset Admirals - Any turn in which the Union does not have at least two blockade flotillas under construction they lose 5NM and 50VP. :pleure: --- I'm not on board with the idea that the Union needs to be pressured more to get stuff...

Re: Just Curious - Any Way to Stop An All-East Union Strategy Featuring 3-star Grant?

Making it a bit tougher for Grant to get an army command would help balance a bit. Usually it only takes one assault on a garrison to get Grant promoted. One thought I've tossed around a bit is if the increase to 6 armies in March of '62 should be changed. I can't help but wonder if the army cap giv...

Re: Where does it show number of troops?

Yes, you can get rid of the debug display. There is an option to turn it off, if I remember right its called 'error logging', or something similar. I don't know of a mod that allows you to change army names, but it should be possible to edit the pool of army names that get used. The faction files lo...

Re: AI Settings in PBEM

Aside from changing the options each time you switch between saves, you could have separate copies of the game for PBEM and solo. Most people seem to play PBEM with the AI turned off. In CW2 there are very little 3rd party factions that need an AI. There are a couple of independent Indian units in t...

I wholeheartedly agreed with the last two posts. Those reasons are why I gave up on the Total War series many years ago. Yes, if you give up Donelson and Nashville then Corinth becomes the likely next target. However, if your defense is centered around Memphis, you could have a corps in both Memphis and Corinth, with an army between them in Hardeman, supporting both regions. I feel that setup works pretty good, I've b...

Good show. Thanks for sharing. Making it to '63 against an experienced Union player is not easy. Playing the losing side in a fairly historical game - you can't really expect to win, that path leads to cursing and frustration. So managing to keep the fight up for 40 turns with half the men and mater...

2nd Point is if you want a Capitol and have surprised the enemy, it must be taken before the turn cycles if you suspect he's moved it.. The minute the turn cycles to it's end you have lost the option to get the full 50 NM pop and drop. Yes, a capital can be moved while under siege. It took me a whi...

Sometimes I'll think about switching division commanders like Kirby Smith over there where I can reduce supply and move quick in those rocky mountains. Yes, extra commanders provide additional CP's to the stack, they don't have to be leading a division, any commander will do. The reason for the difference of 2 CP's to 4 is that all CP's provided by commanders within the Army/Corp structure is doubled. The base CP for a formed army is 12. The amount...

To the OP, Veteran Activation is key, if the Union player knows which of his lazy commanders are inactive its too easy. Its a 23% chance per element, up to a max of 90%. The ships can't be in passive posture or have evade special orders. Open your Steam Library, right click on Civil War 2, click on 'properties'. Then select the 'Local Files' tab. Finally, select the 'Browse Local Files' box. That should open up the folder in a new window.

The Publius Cornelius Scipio that starts the game is not the same Publius Cornelius Scipio that defeated Hannibal. Africanus doesn't come till later in the war, around 210 if I remember right.
