U-Boats is a little tricky. First, the starting one unit with the 2 elements has a different icon, probably a newer model. Second, their true hiding ability shows up only in sea, in port you cannot judge it. Put them to the sea and check again to be certain. My general impression is that for design ...

CP Light/Scouting Cruisers

Perhaps it was a design decision, perhaps it was simply oversight. I notice that the CP has two kinds of light cruisers, both with the same icon, apparently. However there is an important difference between the two. The first batch (the one you mostly start with as independent units) do NOT consume ...

In fact, a NM/PV hit should only be in order if there are higher-seniority promotable (accordingly, to 3-star or GHQ) Generals of the same country and in the same theater, only.

Declaring OberOst

So, the only way not to get the VP/NM penalty when one declares OberOst is to have Hindenburg as 3-star General, as all the others have lower seniority. The strange thing is this: they don't. They have higher seniority than ANY other General of the same nationality in the same Theater. Why the menac...

Armenian Genocide

I think this Russian "decision" can be activated too easily. Its conditions are met from turn 1, which is totally uncool for the CP player as he cannot do anything to influence this. If the conditions say about a certain number of elements in Armenia, at least there should be some input from the pla...

The victory should not be that hard to achieve if one sticks perfectly on the Schlieffen plan. Of course in hindsight we all do it perfectly, but back then it was not at all certain. I, in my PBEM with Merlin and Anazagar, failed to reach Paris by Christmas 1914. Humans obviously know how to react b...

Until it goes to 5. Five is the defeat limit, if I recall correctly. A nice abstraction cause it is if the decision to better spare the lives of the soldiers is taken, because remember in our PBEM in PON, Jim-NC, a nation with such low NM was fighting with soldiers made of dough! :D

I don't know if they should be able to completely clear a region, as that did generally take securing the land area (e.g. the Dardanelles operations), it should be easy enough for minesweepers to have an ability that gives a -66% or -75% likelihood of damage taken from mines. That would be good for...

Naval mines, minelayers, minesweepers, etc

We have discussed this in the past, please take it as an AGE-game-wide comment, i.e. a comment that potentially applies to all AGEOD games, current and future. Wouldn't it be cool if the minesweepers could actually have a use on the map other than cannon fodder? Would't it be interesting if placing ...

Understood. I know I tend to confront each design decision with PON (because there I have the most experience and it is probably the most complex AGEOD title yet), I guess what you describe is the correct and appropriate abstraction for this game. I just wanted to stress the two-fold nature of "war ...

Winning the game as per perfectly executed Schlieffen Plan is a real possibility, as it was historically (if only the 1st and 2nd Armies stayed close enough not to allow a counterattack near Marne). So why the complains?

NM towards 100

Shouldn't NM go towards 100 as turns go by? Both if you have high or low NM, as in PON. Perhaps not every turn, but with a probability (say 25-50%) to gain or lose 1% each turn. The swings are important after a big battle or decisions, but after a few months (many turns), soldiers should not be so p...

No, according to the event the war still happens as Russia is enraged of losing its strings on Serbia. Serbia becomes a puppet of Austria-Hungary. In game terms, Serbia becomes Central Powers. ;)

According to the events, yes! But that chance is very remote and dependent on certain plans chosen that put Serbia under extreme pressure. I had asked in beta to raise that probability but I don't think it was implemented.

Feel free to write the script and see if a gifted gamer or two could abstract an alternate reality scenario. I personally love these "what if" scenarios, I've even written a couple of similar ones for PON.

The best way is the Dropbox. I wish in one of the future titles we get an AGE-wide implementation of the Dropbox API so this is done through the game's interface. The host is one and processes the turns. He puts each new turn (.hst) in the Dropbox. The others simply have to do their orders and uploa...

the highest seniority 3 star general becomes the CIC if there is no GHQ (this can be a minor country general). You sure about that? CiC and Theater Commander should be the same person in each theater. There's only one for each theater. Range should not matter in their case. If it matters, it's probably a bug. The Army commanders on the other hand should have their attached corps in range in order to give them their advantage. I...

I have tried that before as the Ottoman Empire, bizarrely. Long story as to exactly why. It didn't work despite passing the enemy fleet by.....twice....and entering the same province as it. In regards to the thread topic. Although its unlisted in the 11 intriguing ways, I think the biggest game changer of WW1 was the Austria-Hungarian Compromise of 1867.
