Thanks for the update on the game mechanics. I had no idea ships had to be in offensive to stop river crossing (did they change that rule). The CSA started burning towns first in KY (they gave me the idea). Desperate times basically.... Yes, your ships need to be in offensive posture to be able to s...

Yeah, so maybe that is what is happening. You have to fully blockade the space to get the 90% likelihood of blocking? Also, Kentuckian thinks that you have to be on offensive to stop riverine movement.

I just confirmed, all 3 are blocked there with at least 4 ships (not transports) in defensive position.

I've been wondering the same thing. In the next video, a corps did it via river movement. I think it might be that blocking river movement is only 90% effective? This AAR has been both thoroughly entertaining and educational Charles. Thank you! Has anybody been able to share some insight on how Long...

The game is running again on a more normal schedule (moving in real life really slew it down). We've now entered 1863.

I thought, incorrectly, that there may only be a few elements in NM. I was wrong. :) Yeah.... at this point, I think I'm going to focus on building some really large forces till the NM gets back to about 100. Blockade is at 50% I think. The max is 100%, so there is a ways to go. Kentucky has used his forces very well. I was way too aggressive in MO and AL. No other explanation. This sounds right. I sent a very heave infantry force. I realized that I being really lazy when computing those numbers above, the numbers are actually much much worse. I only saw two cavalry elements for a max of 1200 Union troopers, the rest of the horse numbers are likely made up from supply unit...

Can't agree more. Now that the corps command is set, it will be better now. I really should have moved McClellan to Harpers Ferry earlier... if I had done that, I wouldn't have lost it. I think that your Mississippi campaign is a little too ambitious. You need those men in MD now. I would have pulle...

I think this is an interesting point. In my current PBEM YouTube AAR, the CSA is running circles around me and my NM is still above 90. Forts allow you to maintain some MC (5% minimum I believe). But definitely not 100%.

I wondered about the MC being so high, but I guessed it was a fort effect, shrugged and went on - Big mistake.

You can apply it over 1.04. Pocus, I'm still by 1.04 and I assume 1.06RC3 is not available anymore since the official patch 1.06 has been released. As the basis which the patch is applied on seems to have an importance, what is the best choice in my case? Applying 1.06 on 1.04 or on purchased versio...

In my PBEM AAR on YouTube against Ironclad, I was the CSA and spent a lot of time out west. Taking and holding Tuscon, Denver and the gold mines at Pike Peek. There is a lot there for the CSA just as there was historically. I think the CSA gives it up at their peril.

The game sets New Orleans, Vicksburg and Memphis as objective cities. Further, there are some Victory Point places as well (Island 10?) and Baton Rouge - I believe. So, the Union can gain a lot by clearing the Mississippi and the CSA loses lots - particular if New Orleans is lost. There isn't a spec...

It takes 25% or more MC to use the RR through a region. If you want to stop the use of the RR, then you'll need to increase your military control (MC) to greater than 75%.
