I must say that I started off with the new 3D look but missed the portraits. So - back to 2D within ten minutes of first playing. But all credit to AGEOD for offering us a choice. Yes, I agree with Denny's comments 100%. I too started off with the 3D look (the little soldiers look neat!), but the p...

DX10 will kill PC gaming?

I found this article very interesting about how the cost of implementing DX10 could ultimately kill PC gaming as we now know it. Some quotes from the article: "Mark Rein from Epic Games, who was in charge of the development team on Unreal Engine 3, as well as being responsible for the creation of ti...

I too watched it last night on one of the movie channels. Watching certain movies make me want to either buy or play games related to the movie's subject matter.

BoA - French and Indian War campaign

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone is interested in playing a leisurely PBEM using BoA 1.12a? I can make 5-10 turns a week, but the pace would be casual and not rushed. I can play either side.

Please email me at tiboa@telus.net if interested.

Thanks!

Making History: The Calm and the Storm is a very good World War 2 grand strategy game especially after the patch was released. It's a lot less complex than HOI and the graphics are better. I enjoy playing it.

The full War of 1812 campaign is supposed to be in the new version of BoA. I'm betting that the new game is based on the Thirty Years' War.

The Death of Stonewall Jackson (Very long article)

A while ago I read this on the Wargamer forum that some kind person posted regarding the final days and hours of Jackson's life. Makes for a very(!) interesting read. I hope you find it as informative and even emotional as I did. ------------------------------------- Civil War Resources from the VMI...

You ever read anything on the problems Chase had finding money to fund the war? The man was quite literally a genius at it, but he still had people on every side squealing about the measures he was taking. The first ever income tax was levied, but that couldn't have lasted much longer, and was remo...

I understand why you, and most other people who look at the war say this, but in all honesty, the North could not have done that much more. Not without severe problems anyway. Everyone looks at the potential the North had, which is enormous. But the capability to go onto the total war footing simpl...

Confederate defeat was far from inevitable. If the 13 colonies could manage to win their independence by fighting a war against what was the greatest superpower in Europe, it seems illogical to argue that Southern secession was always doomed to failure, when the resources of the South vis a vis the...

So what's the point of a game on this war? Just to see if one can do better than the historical equivalent? Because my opinion on the South's chances are just that, my opinion. James McPherson, in his book "Battle Cry of Freedom", writes that the South had no chance of winning secession. That basically the Union fought the war with one arm tied behind its back and never did bring out the second arm. Witness Lincoln's speech in January 1865 when he said that the Union can m...
