I know you're concerned about being overpowered by the Romans, so my question is: are you leaving any units behind to safeguard Maleventum, or are you throwing the whole lot at Rhegium?

That's, ah, a bit of a juggernaught the Romans are getting ready to hurl at you. Except that it seems that they backed out of the hurling part, for now at least. What will you do if the Romans continue to refuse to move? Will you risk creating some smaller forces to move forward, thereby weakening P...

I rather like the "I discovered this godforsaken sandpit [the Rub Al Khali], now I want to own it, too!" attitude. Should serve you well as an aspiring colonial heavyweight. :) Your crack team of negotiators (or should that be "crackpot"?) sent the Prussians fleeing for sanity. Impressive. Can't say...

Your industry creates nearly twice the prestige as all your held objectives combined. Since you're well on your way towards creating a Greater Italy, I take it that your industry's prestige-creation is quite impressive. The colonial war system does a good job of recreating the morass of actual colon...

Nice progress with creating Pyrrhus, the Super Soldier[sup]TM[/sup]. ;) So, I understand that sooner or later, you'll have to take the fight to the Romans, which will trigger a Dictator (and a near-endless supply of extra Roman troops?). It must be a difficult decision to figure out when is the best...

Impressive expansion, especially the growth of your internal market. A nice overview before we go off on our second round of beating up on the weaker neighbors. :)

Anything noteworthy happening in the Far East, or does 'Asia' basically end at the gates to India, as indicated by your screenshots? ;)

If you intend to take another whack at Austria you may run a risk of Prussian intervention. That would probably be... bad... so, be careful. Bad for him, possibly highly entertaining for us. We'd probably learn some more Scottish (Scotch? Scots? I never know which adjective to apply) invective as w...

...but then who wants to play PBEM and not be able to trust your opponent? I realize I'm getting dangerously close to trolling here, but I must admit having to do a double-take at that. Or perhaps a triple, or quadruple-take. ;) I guess there's the difference between 'trust' in that all will abide ...

That. Was. Horrible. Not for you, clearly, but the Austrian losses are just beyond comprehension. 280,000 men killed in just over two weeks. 780 elements surrendered (so, at nominal strength, that would be another 780,000 men out of the Austrian armies?). In other words, as much as a million Austria...

Franz-Joseph must be roaming the halls of the Shonbrunn moaning, "Bylandt-Rheidt! Where are my battalions! Von Pitner! Where is my Army!" "Quintili Vare, legiones redde!" served as the model for that, perhaps? :) In that case, seeing as how the Italians are the descendants of Rome (sort of) and the...

Crap almighty... Are the Austrians trying to solve their minority problems by conscripting them all and throwing them to the Italian artillery batteries? That is slaughter. And then some. I know it's just a game, but I'm trying to picture the demographic impact of this bloodletting. There'll be a lo...

The USA really does seem a bit of a paper tiger at the moment, have they not heard of the Monroe Doctrine? Don't know how relevant this would be in 1879, but in real life the Monroe Doctrine was basically enforced by the British for the first bit of its existence (I'm sure Director could tell you m...

Sweet lord! You're actually going to do it: go on the offensive. And you're going to succeed. I'm clearly too cautious/scared for these games, I'd never have thought you would be able to pull off an offensive into the Austrian heartland. Grim, wholesale slaughter in those battles. But hey! You've go...

Welcome, Stuyvesant, my friend. I see the Paradox forums finally led you here! :) No doubt Loki's AARs were involved . . . Very astute! :) Yes, they did. Looks a bit sparse without the comment, but I understand your urgency, loki . One quick point I'd like to make: it looks like you copy-pasted the posts wholesale, so the hyperlinks in the text still point to the Paradox site (as opposed to the relevant posts over here). Probably not very urgent righ...

It's good to see some of these AARs showing up here. I still haven't gotten round to ROP (don't know if I will, what with the daunting PON still on my to-do list first), but this is a fascinating insight into the game and I believe that the combined AARs I read (ROP, WIA, PON, RUS) did more than any...

Narwhal, I believe the subtitle of the game already is 'Vainglory of Empires'. So it's not so much an 'either/or' as a 'and' proposition. :)

A fine decision to let us have a Beta AAR in Paradoxland (I really spend all of my time there, hence this is my first post on these forums). :) Bohémond , for what it's worth, a few comments from loki100 waxing lyrical about the game made me pre-order it last week (and since it wasn't on Gamersgate ...
