Re: WON Public Beta patch February 24th - 2017

I have updated AGEOD steam games manually with no issues. Just download the patch from the ageod forums and direct it to where your steam game is installed. If it's not an executable then just overwrite the steam files, if it's an exec just apply it to the WoN steam folder. Usually steam games are i...

Re: replacemnts

OK. Thanks. I was taking those details from a CW2 video. But maybe it was wrong - it did seem strange that chits would be needed to pay for new recruit building. But are you sure that lost hits (not entire replacements) can't get replaced simply by being green and out of the action?

Re: replacemnts

As I understand your question, and understand the mechanism, it's like this: 1. Hits to elements (as represented by the creeping red zone in the element icon in the element inspector window, for example) get replaced by you going all green away from the action. 2. However, if an element gets entirel...

Re: Few Questions

I'm new to these games, but I can say that most things are the same as in CW2 and EAW, which you've already played. The ledger, for example, you get via F1, as in those games. To cut losses during winter I've been placing my forces inside towns (not just in the province but inside the towns) in comp...

Re: EAW 1.04 Beta (March 30th Update)

It's not available from within Steam. I don't know why? But I can just take the matrix version - when Durk tells me where it is - and apply it to the steam install. Usually no probs doing that. At the moment I'm just waiting for someone to tell me where the latest 1.04 is. Durk says its an april 16 ...

Ok. Thanks. But I'm seeking to update my steam version - so could you make it available within the steam beta option - at the moment there are no beta options in steam? Thanks.

I'd appreciate you pointing me to it, Durk, as I can only find 1.04 march 30th update, nothing from April 16. Thanks.

Re: which is current version?

Thanks. But I'm still confused. 1.04 is dated earlier than 1.03.1. Are you sure 1.04 is the most up to date patch, instead of 1.03.1?

Re: EAW 1.04 Beta (March 30th Update)

Sorry to raise this again, but I'm confused. The 1.04 beta seems to be dated earlier than the 1.03.1 patch (though, obviously, it has a later number - 4 not 3). Can someone who knows tell me which is the latest? Thanks.

help - how to get a beseiged force to attack

Can anyone tell me how to get a besieged force to sally forth and attack the besiegers? I'm talking about where I have around a 3 to 1 force advantage over those besieging me (I put the army in the city to winter out and then the AI set up a siege). The button to instruct the army to sortie out seem...

I hope the new engine is all about better AI and not about stupid eye candy 3d stuff. The most recent games have beautiful maps and nothing much more is needed.

Re: Tips for GNW please

Intriguing insights. Thanks. I'm still playing post-Travendal, slowly, so it will have to be next time round I try to radically crush the Danes. What happens if you crush them instead of doing Travendal? Do they just then forever vanish as a force to be reckoned with? I don't understand. Unless you ...

features question

Now that there's a steam sale, I'm thinking of buying AJE. Can someone in the know tell me how much it differs from Napoleon's Campaigns, at one end, and, perhaps, CW2, at the other? In particular, is there a replacement and recruitment page in the 'ledger' allowing you to build units? Is there a di...

Re: units besieging Harpers Ferry from within...

Thanks all. I shall experiment with reinforcing the stack in there - see what happens. The unit in there has now been upgraded to an 'army' but that doesn't seem to have made a difference. The CSA is in the region with the unit, maybe even IN the structure with them - not sure. But, as noted, no bat...

Re: Is the AI game worth trying?

Not at all. I can say that the graphics in WoN are really lovely, much better than NC (I have both). Plus, there are various things missing from NC besides a grand campaign, I think. I've barely played it, but I believe, for example, there's no recruiting in NC. It's very much more a military only t...

units besieging Harpers Ferry from within...

Anyone know what is going on here? I have moved a kind of coup de main Union force to Harper's Ferry, very early on (May 61) and it's not shown on the map. To see it I have to use the ledger. If I click on Harper's Ferry it doesn't appear. I can only see that it's actually IN Harper's Ferry by click...

Ah! Thanks. I have the activation setting over to the far right, as I thought that would be most challenging, but hadn't realised it resulted in fixing as well as them being periodically unactivated. Many thanks for the clarification. I'll expect it when it happens now!

novice question - units become fixed again

Trying various different starts to the full campaign from the Union side I decided to be aggressive at the earliest opportunity and moved what I had of the Army of NorthEastern Virginia, led by McDowell, into Manassas, whilst the CSA had only a very small force there during the early May 61 turn. No...
