Re: Graphics issues

Hi Vaalen, My screen size is mostly 1600x900 and 1280x800 on laptops. Actually, writing this reply on the Ageod forum I am finding it hard to see the text as it is grey on white to me! I've driven and hitch hiked around Scotland a few times. May and June are the likely to be the best times unless yo...

Re: Graphics issues

They are white on black to me, with the numbers a sort of purple! (Did you ever play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri with the Alternate Color patch?) I think all games should include something like this because whenever there are those occasional items in the press about the color of items I see them dif...

Re: Reflections Over a Cuppa

Yes, it seems horribly realistic.

Small armies, and troops that slip off in the night.

A castle near me was apparently beseiged in the Civil War. An initial attack was repulsed so the beseigers settled down.
The beseiged colonel slipped out in the night to see his mistress in the nearby town.

Royalist win by 6,490 to 642.

I managed to play a complete game and lose to the Royalists by 6,490 to 642. I tried all I could to get my morale down to below 25 to trigger a sudden defeat but couldn't get it below 58. I even put Cromwell and several other leaders on a boat and had them bobbing around in the North Sea for a coupl...

1. I seem to have only two scenarios now - Naseby is no more. Probably me borking something. 2. But I get the new map with Surrey replacing Berkshire, however I have noticed another map blip. Is Reading Reading or Newbury and if Reading should the region between it and Surrey be labelled something e...

Well I've just got back from holiday in Spain (Catalonia. not Madrid - sorry Liebst !) and there's been no posts for almost a fortnight. Is the war over? Why wasn't I told?

Re: So nice to be fighting in England, sort of

From Wikipedia on Bradford During the Civil War the town was garrisoned for the Parliamentarians and in 1642 was unsuccessfully attacked by Royalist forces from Leeds. Sir Thomas Fairfax took the command of the garrison and marched to meet the Duke of Newcastle but was defeated. The Parliamentarians...

That's a great review for you. Just make sure the next patch clears up as many of the niggles that people are spotting and the game can get widespread recommendation.

Can you consider producing a demo version with just one scenario so the game can be tried without commitment?

Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

I've had a complete run through all 106 turns of the full campaign with no crashes. This was on a low spec XP laptop - 1.6 ghz, 2 gb ram Intel graphics. It ran really well. I think there is still some funny arithmetic on the money and war supplies calculations - sometimes it seems right other times ...

Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

I'm playing the Naseby scenario as Royalists, all options set to default. There seems to be some strange results for the money and war supplies display in the top left. Sometimes it seems to add up correctly and display the final amount, other times not. Can somebody else try it and let me know if I...

I agree. There seem to be some real nit pickers over on the Matrix site. It isn't only there and about this game. It seems some people rush to get a new thing just so they can immediately find an error of some sort and shout about it. I don't think I could stand it if I had spent months of work maki...

Well over the years I feel I know Normandy, the Ardennes, Gettysburg and Berlin. But now, Lyme Regis - my house is about 5 miles from there. And Gloucester; about 10 miles from where I write this. And I am amply supplied with apostrophes for the myriad of forces I command. Well done for making this ...

I must admit the inclusion in the game of places like Basing House, Lyme Regis, and Selby and Nantwich just shows how little of my o...

Re: Game still to unbalanced for CSA

Has anybody modded the game so that they feel it gives about 50:50 balance? There are games where you can vary lots of factors for one or more sides so that you get a balance that you the player feels right for your enjoyment, rather than the game maker having to say that's it, no variation. Battles...

I have the game but only ever played the short Finnish and Ice March scenarios. However, I have just recommended the game on today's Financial Times (not a regular source of wargamers I know) because they have quite a long article on the coverage of the revolution. https://www.ft.com/content/c270e00...

There's lots of info at the Battlefield Trust website - including a map showing the roads at the time and the boggy marshy areas that meant a long trudge from say Kings Lynn to Boston. Well I've been whiling away time again this New Year comparing the Shiloh scenario on 1.06d, 1.17 and with CW2. Big differences - I got mostly victories by points as the rebels with 1.06, but mostly defeats on 1.17 and CW2. This was doing a defensive "come and get us approach." For anybody...
