Please also remember that there is a difference (historical) between how the game abstracts the Western and Eastern fronts. In the East the entrenchment levels go up much smaller and stay smaller allowing for a more mobile conflict. TheKaisersMustache may be the best forum handle I've seen yet! Wilh...

In any case, number of men, horses, guns etc. is pure flavour material and plays no role in the engine. All that matters in this case are the number of hits... Nonetheless, we all wish they somehow are realistic to real numbers. Same applies to sunk ships in naval battles. If we see battles that ar...

Remember that experience can only be applied to the surviving (parts of the) elements. If you kill a lot and have few losses the experience gained seems much, but it is divided among the many surviving elements. If I understood correctly the mechanism, this is the only way to do it as units with man...

You need to play this intelligently. Always select the supplies filter map before selecting where to send the empty ammo dumps. Each dump can take up to 80 ammo and most cities in the beginning stash less than 10-20. Always send the dumps independently to different cities as back as you can (and are...

Hey, did you try to do sorties? Having a nice fleet in Southampton and doing interception sorties in offensive from port to port (looking to be in sea for 10-12 days) really helps a lot not to lose cohesion as well as upping the probabilities of intercepting a rival movement. An ideal sortie goes fr...

I wish you could post a log for that turn. It's the only way. Anyway, I think elements are easier to die if they retreat in extremely low cohesion. For whatever reason (supplies, weather, battle damage).

That's what I suspected/knew. I was kind of perplexed by Shri's answer: so it's not a malus when they are not in range, they behave normally, but there is a certain bonus when in range. It makes sense for it to be the bonus of Strategic/Offensive/Defensive values, this was (I think) what was propose...

AI working in the background would not work in the AGE engine BEFORE the player has set his orders because the AI's orders depend much on the player's current orders, especially in higher levels of difficulty. Balance in PON is lost because it's a huge game... I mean 1000+ turns. Insane by any means...

1. There should be an easier way to identify when generals are promotable. 2. It's a pain having to move a 3 star general all the way to the GHQ to form an army (especially true for the Ottomans). Especially if you inadvertently merge with another army and you loose your Army status. 3. It's not re...

Exhibit number 2. :) Steam ships of the period, which burned coal to fire their boilers, were naturally tied to coaling stations in friendly ports. The German Navy lacked sufficient overseas bases for sustained operations, even for single ships operating as commerce raiders. The Navy experimented wi...

Yes indeed. But so far I have been the only one that has brought some hard evidence (a map of actual fleet movements without recoaling of a decade EARLIER) as well. :) Restricting fleet movements through Gibraltar is way too harsh. In Suez, I can understand it, but Gibraltar cannot be closed. It wou...

That's the new patch feature showing who is Commander in Chief, not promotion eligibility. Guilty as charged, I must have missed the notes. The second alternative described by Kensai, of stripping the ships to skeleton crews, and storing coal on the ships themselves, would have left them helpless against any allied fleet that managed to intercept them, and no admiral would take such a risk. That admiral's primary goal would be to reach...

Johnny, you don't want colliers with you, fair enough, but you ignored completely the second option I posted. Guys, Pride of Nations is brilliant indeed. v1.04 should probably come out some time after the devs free themselves to work on it, probably after v1.01 of EAW is delivered. Colonists don't buy as much as the (non-) national regional regions. Population and its class play a major roll. Colonies and regions should not appear in the same diplomatic arrangement unless you play with extended claims and you somehow bordering that colony already. I would go for the exchange of "colony" if I wanted a colony.

Unfortunately in the long run the game is unbalanced as far as state funds and capital go. I wish there were some events that automatically decreased hoarding of money. All in all, PON has a sound basis for its economic game, but needs some trimming for the long campaigns.

1) I guess there is a random percentage gain according to alliance and tech sector. For example the Western Entente should progress faster in tank technology than the Central Powers. The Eastern Entente is much slower in all aspects. The exact percentage gain is unknown but it should probably have b...
