Fun with Grand Campaign Game

Leibstandarte, I have two new Grand Campaign games of España 1936 pbem, so hard to type on an American computer, no accents. This is such a delightful game. Lots of challenges with disorganization turning into organization. It is really interesting to see how each player chooses to focus their initi...

Sometimes I think the rule is that retreat of forces is to the most annoying and impossible place you can imagine. But that is me at times of frustration. Just like in the actual Civil War, battles of annihilation are very rare. What? One time? As long as a region with some control exists in potenti...

Leaders do not have an actual strength, but they add strength to combat units by joining with them. Individually, but more so as commanders of divisions, corps and armies. So when you added a leader and saw the increase in strength, it was because the command penalty was reduced.

The very first time I saw the Dallas event I was curious enough to check it out. There were sufficient Union leaning soldiers in Texas that this event is very plausible. It is not an assured event, it is randomized.

Leaders after Richmond is no longer Queen of the South

Many of you know I am frequently on the losing side of a glorious cause. Each time I move the Capital to Atlanta, the new leaders continue to show up at Richmond. Not a serious issue, it just takes a couple of weeks to get the new leaders to the fighting front, but it would be nice if they appeared ...

As you can tell from the time distance of this post from Homet's last post, we spent some time figuring out what was going on to cause the game to crash. What we isolated to, actually homet gets the credit for this detective work, is that players should follow the guideline of every game manual to z...

White Guard, I tend to agree with the many comments you may think are 'attacking' your statements. You have presented a problem which is likely new to all the forum members. So it takes time to resolve. Certainly buying games in the Ageod store insures a product with better and known support. Often ...

In my experience, this is a challenging scenario for Rome. There is a need to build units and gather money, stay out of open areas early on. I think you picked the right side, for a challenge.
Nice scenario. Do the Caesar fantasy scenario if you want to run riot as Rome.

I totally understand the Franco effect. He is really awesome in this game. However, Republicans can mount a defense far south of Madrid with artillery, tanks and International units which delay Franco until reinforcements reach the front. I have found the Nationalist very strong, but the Republicans...

What a great question. Best used with a commander in the mountains.
Does not add to a division or a corps as some other elements do.
Use independently or with other mountain or artillery units. In other division or corps will enhance defense in mountainous terrain.

I am in a game of "The Spanish Ulcer" which is a real challenge. While I do hope the next AGEOD game is the Napoleonic Wars with a grand campaign of all the Napoleonic Wars, the current game is really nice.

Taullebois - did you figure out a good strategy?
My kind of vapid reply hid the strategy, maybe. The side which attacks first wins. Which towns are you attacking in your quick attack?

Hmm, I always thought it was a successor to GDW's "For Whom the Bell Tolls." A much more technical game than "No Pasaran." I appreciate your comments very much, but my take is careful Republican play can, and will, result in a solid defensive game. Use the Madrid defense option. Play your major lead...

I am probably not the best person to reply to your post as I never play versus AI. I play both sides if solo and I do not have a real opponent. Otherwise, I only play PBEM. Espana is such a gem. This is a conflict which rarely sees a great game, and Espana is a great game. This game is such an accu...

The Confederates blew up the Merrimack on May 11th, after Norfolk fell. The Monitor sank in gale during an attempted tow past Cape Hatteras on New Year's Eve. In my last two PBEM CW2 games, neither player had these units via game events. Must they now be built?

The game system looks at whether there is at least one commander of the correct faction. Because I tend to play historically, I ignore the anomaly that a great commander of a different faction does well as long as you have at least one poor commander of the correct faction.
