Having the weather say "rain and mud" is just an easy way to model "you're in the desert, supply and movement sucks"

Well the fleet sailed and did the distant offload in the same turn. They would have only known after it sailed and I landed. Now, if they had a corp march to the sound of battle, then I get it. Just seemed strange. On another note, how many divisions per corp typically. I've been going 3 How many r...

Re replacements: In the beginning of the war, a lot of the units you get for free are missing hits, so need tons of replacements. For the south, the elite brigades (Stonewall, etc), are short regiments, and for the north, the McDowell and Shenandoah armies are at half strength. Those units need repl...

Click the green plus "+" button. Its next to the create division "XX" button.

Complications sometimes arise. Make sure he's the most senior general in the stack (take him out of the stack if needed). He has to be active. If you give him orders, sometimes that de-presses the "+" button.

What are the optimal game settings to set up for the player and AI if I am chasing some historical accuracy. Put the generals who are promotable in charge of really good divisions. Put the generals who aren't promotable in charge of garrison duty or volunteer divisions. The really good divisions (and artillery divisions, as already stated), beat up the other side in battle. Even in losing battles. Thus, pr...

Yes, the abstraction is very extreme. Heavy usage if the RivTP can shift between rivers with no connection to each other at all from one turn to the next. Or imagine a Union force pushing down from Arkansas to capture Shreveport and then using the RivTP to sail down the Red to New Orleans. The Unio...

Garrison the rivers. You'll destroy those units.

I agree with the point though. Those stacks should have to carry a pontoon unit with them.

There's going to be a month or two in 61 when you will not have any war supply at all. The little bit you're getting is being reinvested to build industrial options. Use that time to build flatboats to fill in your supply network. Flatboats (and far west Rangers) are the only unit that doesn't requi...

Play them in a zone. Its more likely to get a hit if you play them in a zone with ships in them (duh, obviously)- but if they are unsuccessful they go back into the RGD pile of cards to replay- so you may consider using them somewhere you want to defend, like the mouth of the Mississippi to hurt shi...

I've played a game where the CS has run out of units to recruit. There's also the display glitch, where if you have zero dollars, and do something that requires $30, the display will tell you that you have $30. Sounds like something else though. Like Durk says, when in doubt, log out and start over.

The first game played as 1.06- it seceded on the same turn as Tennessee.

I've noticed this as well. Grant and Sherman are always great, and Freemont and Butler always suck.

I find it frustrating that the promotional system is not randomized, as it sucks having a 7-6-6 Blenker unable to be promoted, while a 0-0-1 Slocum still expects a corp command.

Before the battle of Fredricksburg, Jackson moved his entire corps from the Shenandoah to Fredricksburg in less than 15 days. Elements of his corps arrived in 3 days.
