Re: England Invasion: GC start JAN 1805

You can use the two scripts found in Options, either France Rules the Waves or France Hold the Caribbean Island (I forget the actual name but it bring the USA and Spain in against France against some enhanced French naval assets), but if you start with the Sea Lion option you have the strength to s...

Re: How old are you guys ?

hahahaha ok, I'm a bit re-insured. Thought I might be the only one ancestor dude here :-) hahahaha :papy: But fortunately,. I'm not :-). BTW, to be honest, it's not a surprise :-) So no kids here ? It's a pity because playing AGEOD is a great educational activity (as compared to first person shooter...

England Invasion: GC start JAN 1805

Hi there ! I'm new at WON and so far I love it !! I was wondering about the JANUARY 1805 start with Grande Armee around Boulogne. I suppose the scenario is here to allow the player to try England's invasion, and just before the Austerlitz military campaign later in 1805. But, I can't see how invadin...

yeah, I'm asking about war and peace because an ex girlfriend always wanted me to read it :-) :pleure: and ... romance .... :8o: :8o: :8o:
But to be honest, the books you recommend seem better for me as I definitely prefer non-fiction books. :-)

Tolstoi's Война и миръ (war and peace)

Hi, I haven't read this book yet. But I'm wondering whether it's relevant to understand this period of history or if the fiction part outweighs the historical accuracy of the book ? In one word: is W&P worth reading in order to understand this period or are there better (and probably shorter) bo...

seems strange there was no room for PhlThib

My understanding is that Philippe Th. wasn't fired but decided to leave to move on to new projects. By his own decision ...

Re: un-merging two armies

OK sounds good to me. Was afraid to lose something by mixing original cards ... So i will not hesitate to recompose armies to reach optimal armies. I might lose some historical setup but that's OK for me :-) Efficiency first ! :pouet:

Re: un-merging two armies

Afaik there is no convenient way. But then again I mostly don't keep the original setup anyways, because from a powergaming point of view it rarely meets the optimum. So I might just not have stumbled over it yet. So does it means that you will mix Murat's army cards with Napo's so that you can ach...

un-merging two armies

Hi, I guess this is a question that applies to all AGEOD games ... I wanted to see if I can merge Murat's corps with Napo's La Grande Armee and of course, the provided command points were not enough for both. My question "how can I un-merge the two armies ? Because I'm not sure exactly which ca...

PBEM ?

Hi who's interested to start a pbem ? One one turn per day minimum. As I never played PON (or even any Ageod games) in pbem before I'm not offering to organise the game and would let a more experience player configure the game and organise the logistics ... Any country for me would be fine, maybe a ...

Re: Is this forum dead ?

I find it a bit scary to be honest... I still hope we will get some nice new games in the future but who knows. Phil Thib and the "board game" feel are sort of the essence of what made AGEOD different, in an era of either hardcore simulation à la WITP or arcadish games with historical fee...

Re: Peace offer

PON is not quite a "tint-the-world-in-my-color" game. You can only claim regions in a peace deal that either - border to one of your National Regions (not Colonial 101% regions as far as I know) - have a majority of your national population (French, in your case) - regions of tribal state...

Re: Let's bet on the next ageod game

Not sure how it works but I guess you pay a fee or % for using the engine, it is not free, or it was not. Third party is not Ageod proper (PhilThib and Pocus), though they usually help the developer in question more or less depending on the game. Leibst created 3 games using AGE engine, España1936,...

Peace offer

Hi, I'm France and and started a war with Maroc in order to annex them. The regions I occupy are already marked as "France" and are in my blue color. Does it mean that as soon as I occupy a province it becomes my territory or should I negotiate a peace treaty and request annexion for the p...

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

Yes I was asking the frequency at which you have to play/send a turn to the host. For example if you play a turn per day, as a GC has 1680 turns then you will need 1680 days to finish a game, which is 4 years (!!) :-) If it's a turn per week, you will need 1680 weeks which is about 30 years :papy: :...

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

Well, if you guys don't mind playing with a beginner, we can maybe start to organise the game ? I was wondering how pbem works with several players as it's wego ? I guess everybody has to play it's turn in sequence (i play my turn, send the file to the next guy, etc) and the last player on the list ...

Re: Let's bet on the next ageod game

There won't be more games with the previous engine, unless people who already did some 'Third Party' games like Leibstandarte (Miguel) or Altaris (Ben) want to make more. I did not handle WSS, I hope the persons in charge will produce a patch in the not too distant future. Not sure to understand......

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

Well, for the moment I'm still learning PON. It's fairly complex so it will take some time, a week or so. Then I'll be happy to start a pbem :-)
