Not an AACW player, so how did the recruitment of units work in that game ?

The recent AGEOD games (RUS, AJE, ROP) have a mix of both systems : you can use EP to have units, or buy them - but not everywhere.

You're right, in some situation, it could. But i suppose most of the capable historical White leaders are already in the game, distributed in the various White factions, and we probably can't imagine more and stay in a "historical dimension". I read many exemples where Whites general were moved fro...

I think there is actually a major stress for NW-Whites / Northern Whites. I once played a game or for various reasons they became a force to be reckoned with (they took Petersburg, and reached Moscow at the same time as the Southern Whites, after liberating everything on the way, and even some extra...

If you do it in Winter, they will unlock nonetheless. Might seem like a waste of EP, but it is useful to stop another tribe from starving, if you have the EP (I had).

No artillery => No breach :)

I think you need to have at least one "bonus" for the breach to be possible, so one rusky gun with 1 power won't do.

The Pontics have lots and lots of troops, but they are poor quality. If you play with the worst supply rules, keeping the 100K armies on the field is a logistic nightmare.

My opinion for all AGEOD games is that supplies should be generated mostly by countryside but accumulated only in cities (and transported from cities). In ROP, due to the fact that most of the land is civilised and "flat", the supply generated by the land is fairly high, and I rarely have supply iss...

I can see that now. Perhaps they'll work something in. I'll have to give RoP a look see now too. If you are into AACW and WWII, I believe RUS is closer to AACW than any other AGEOD games. Plus, there are armors, trains, and all sort of stuff closer to the modern era you fancy. Also, it is a civil w...

I don't think that AGEod will want to pay for a server just to counter cheating. Is cheating really that big of a problem? A major change is that we are reworking a lot of windows and panels so they are faster to display and that they look more understandable. I completely agree about the political appointments. Maybe there should be a trait or some other noticeable marker to show who the "political" generals are so that we know those ones will get promoted first. Although, I sort of believe that the "Politicals" are already taken care of as several poli...

My opinion exactly. Generals would - not - die. I lost 2 early on in that campaign, but then it was luck and did not lose more.

Maybe it got corrected in RoP gold, though ?

Nasty bug with siege

I was playing the Pyrrhic wars as Pyrrhus and managed to siege Rome for quite a long time. As you know, in BOR, if you are not Rome, most of the time the only solution to take cities is to siege them out, which I did. Unfortunately, it seems in some case you can never win that way. While you can str...

I remember that, in the Beta, and handful of force (one legion each + some supportive) could hold the passes in the Alps forever.

That may free some good forces to bug Vespasian before he ends his own local issue.

I still believe the WiA 2 AI is better :)

Well, I will just take the example you took. YOur force is actually much weaker than his force. Of your 20 000 men, 12 000 are members of the supply trains (1 element of supply = 1000 men). Now you are 8 000 vs 12 000. Of your 8 000, you will have to take out the airforce members, the transmission e...

The problem I see is that all those systems (Guerrilla Warfare, Airpower, ...) would be rough "fixes" - proxy- to represent what the engine itself cannot do directly. One or 2 of those fixes is fine, but when the heart of what is simulated is using those proxies (I am especially thinking Air War her...

So far, Pyrrhus is the most entertaining I did. The Mercenary War is a good training scenario, the Samnite is extremely unbalanced, but fun. The Punic War (victory in SP as the Romans in 80 turns) is an endless grind in Sicily. Did not try the Sennotes yet.

Thank you Phil, but I don't think it will change much. You need 3 breach to assault Carthage. At best, when lucky, you will have 1 breach from the siege, rarely holding the following turn. Very interesting indeed, seems very balanced but I am under the impression that Pyrrhus hands are like tied due to him wanting to avoid the Dictator Army (which triggers a bit too easily for balance in my opinion), and that even with getting all the "no-dictator compliant" objectives, ...
