That's not the case if you are in passive posture, and I thought that's what you did.

Alternatively, maybe neither of our commander was too keen in engaging combat :)

Just to be honest, there are some engine quirks which also worked in Sulla's favour. For example, sometimes I really have no idea how Sulla managed to pass Pontus huge stacks without fighting. On one occasion Sulla's army resided for two turns in same province with Pontus blocking mega stack withou...

Pontics may be the strongest faction, but only if you are quite experienced. They have a few drawbacks that will trap any beginner player using them, and will also an experimented player to placate them. The worst issue with them is supply. In my current game, all my mobile forces + fleets request b...

I suppose it would have to be some sort of pre-set battle plans to possibly use, but then it's essentially just stances under a different name. I see why it doesn't really work for multiplayer, but it does seem a shame not to have it at all. Yes, that's what would have been cool - give more detail ...

I like what I have read and seen so far. Looking forward to the next diaries. What I never got though, is the variety of the units. In none of the AGE games I always recruited (or tried to) the "strongest" unit (eg. Line infantry, Roman Cohorts etc) of a given type (Inf, Cav, Art) as I never found ...

Hello hello :)

Is this considered as bug as per Pocus opinion ? With the number of walls in AJE, fixing this bug could be game-changing [for the better imo, though it may unbalance a few things]

What's even better, if you host, you can play that trick on your opponent. Great, isn't it. And you want to change that :(

To complete Emx, I believe it comes from the fact that the army checks whether it can go further BEFORE resolving the assault. When going through cities without walls, there are no issues, but the walls will block the movement. It is such a well-known, systematic issues that : - I always scout ahead...

It really bogs down to historical difference, but I believe the game the closest to AJE is WiA2. Army composition, recruitment, "ressources" are VERY different in AJE vs ROP&RUS.

I would advocate for detection values of the individual units not to be changed, but the detection bonus applied for military control to be changed instead. So 51% or greater control in a region and a force gets an additional +3 bonus to detection instead of the current bonus of +2. And if you have...

As an addendum on this subject, I am currently playing the Marius vs Sulla as Pontus. I am driving my opponent nuts because my large army (Archaleos's force at the beginning) is basically invisible to him, just somewhere, even though that's definitely not a small stack. Reason ? Base Hide : +1 Passi...

That's an old proposal of mine that all force with leaders have + 1 detection and maybe +1 hide - all games. Of course, that's an huge change that should be tested :) In AJE and as a minor change, I would advocate keeping Roman Legion organic cavalry at detection 3, but giving the cavalry unit detec...

That's IMO an issue with the game.

Base Hide : 1
Small force : +1
Passive : +1
Total : 3

Best detection for "normal" units : 3

You see a unit only if Detection > Hide.

Bottomline : It is super easy to hide forces in AJE.

Septimus Severus indeed.

You might want to give the strongest side (Severus) to the weakest player, and the weakest side (Clodius) to the best, but really it is the most balanced.

Also large stacks are less mobile. If you do a march in difficult land with a massive stack, you will receive 200 + or 300 + hits. That will do a drain in your economy.

To be honest, for quite a long time, I thought that it was a game of "biggest stack" wins. After some playing with the latest patch, I discovered that good manoeuvering can allow you to beat armies with 1 to 2 ratio.

But - am I mistaken here? - I always thought that there is no disadvantage to having more troops than there can be in an area. With other words, if you have more troops than can fight the units that can't participate will stay in reserve and exhausted units can retreat to make room for fresh ones i...

Having the biggest stack possible is NOT the best solution at all. Actually, it is bad strategy. Better to have 2 large armies that maximize frontage than 1 large army can won't be able to deploy due to frontage. Ergo, 2 armies 4-5 legions plus supporting troops (including cavalry) better than one 1...

Cohesion recovery is the average of the elements in an unit. If one element has 100% and the other 0%, the average will be different than 50/50% due to one gaining 0/turn.

I think the issue of the OP is that you should not pay the price if you actually cannot promote the guy that got angered.

On the other hand, if that was possible, there would be either no angering issue or an awful lot of dummy CiC around.

In my opinion, in the long campaign, balance is heavily tilted against the red, except against a passive Siberian White, allowing the Red to strike the Southern before they turtle up.

In the short campaign, it seems quite the opposite, though, with an heavy advantage for the Reds.

On AGEOd engine in general, I am not happy with how "Armies" work. Basically if I take a commander (2 stars) in the Volga, attach him to an army on the Volga then send him to say the Baltic states, I have no CP penalty, even though it would take 3 months to receive orders. This creates gamey method ...

The ebb and flow of Army or stack activity as it stands is derived from activation penalties and delays in moving which is fine as far as it goes; however, I would like to see an Army command build up something like "Campaign Points" (CPs) by resting in a depot region X number of turns. Any Army en...

Bonjour à tous, Je joue les Rouges dans une partie multijoueurs, dernier patch à jour. Nous sommes à l'automne 1919, les Anglais du front nord se sont retirés de la guerre, mais pas les Français sur la mer noire.
