From my experience, we would have to basically prepare everything ourselves in advance. Then we might expect it being published as an official patch. This would include play-testing event changes, which change game play, and might change play-balance. Simple changes to event and tool-tip texts are ...

<Campy-Voice>But of course the press was infatuated with the East. Richmond is only a few days march from Washington, and the West, well, that's far away, and there's nothing consequential there anyway. The population is far lower, far more thinned out, and far less cultivated.</Campy-Voice> It's p...

Actual Costs to build a fort

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere, but I can't seem to find it via search. What is the full cost of building a Fort? 2 Supply Units 4 Artillery Units Active General Anything else? Money, Conscripts, WS? I tried looking through the database but I want to confirm what others have done to be succ...

To be fair to Grant, he was in every way a competent general. He lacked flair and occasionally made missteps but was skilled and lucky enough to make up for that with hard work and good working relationships with most of his subordinates. However, he only avoided being defeated in detail by Lee at ...

The real question is, how should this 'event' really look? Should it really be a simple binary either the North takes Manassas and wins the event, or should it be much more nuanced? Should there be more than one possible goal? More than one way to show successful aggressiveness? What should they lo...

Actually, no, it's not so awkward. Really awkward is when McDowell has been doing a great job, just not as AGEod had planned (ie McDowell didn't taken Manassas, but maybe he's taken Fredericksburg, and maybe he's threatening to take Richmond), and an event throws him out and puts Lil'Mac in charge ...

Yes, it is a bit awkward. I think the way the events unfold is mainly dictated by the limitation of the game engine. After division formation hits the field it becomes very tricky to re/move generals with events. As far as I know the game is not capable of removing a general from the game without k...

Awkward

In my current PBEM game. I just had the "McClellan takes command" where Mac is promoted to 3* and supposedly put in command in Washington... Except he isn't. He's still sitting in Ohio and what makes it awkward is that General Scott is still kicking it in DC as a 4* and obstinately in command of the...

Jerzul - I thoroughly applaud this response. I met a similar push back when I made a suggestion to a solicited request for potential alt histories in the Napoleonic era. If we are to explore alt history, we have to agree that it is: 1. Plausible 2. Has a taste of historical grounding 3. But then, l...

*sigh* Yes, I defined what I describe as ' alternate history ', because without having definitions for the terms we are using, we are all using the same words, but speaking of completely different things. Under such conditions there is no communication, and the entire undertaking is useless. If you...

Alternate History Scenarios

Before anyone makes the mental leap straight to The Guns of the South , let me be clear. I'm not talking about anything that extreme. I really do wonder why AGEOD never made a few simple "alternate history scenarios" for sale as expansions. I think small changes would be more interesting. Such as: [...

Good idea, but the damage will be halved. Still comes down to batteries being under-powered. They should have greater range than ships (because of higher vantage point, more stable firing platform and game balance, if for no other reason) and do more damage. This would slow up Union invasions. The ...

I found this in the Wiki: "For oceanic supply distribution, the harbors won't be able to receive supply if it is blockaded, but forts alone, without some ships, won't blockade the harbor (you get an icon if the harbor is blockaded)." So I guess NO cannot be blockaded by the forts if the Union holds...

Large .bmp pics won't load. I do a Print Screen and then paste it to the Windows accessory program Paint. I crop the big picture and save the file as a .jpg. Keep it up vicberg! I always enjoy a good AAR. It sounds like you are recovering from your earlier blunders pretty well. Try getting some of your non-boobs promoted to 2 and 3-star so that you can get a better force. I'd concentrate on Grant, Sherman, Lyon, and maybe Hooker to begin with. The Union ...

Yes. If you are adding a completely new general you need to add them into the game! The easiest way is to go the events folder and find USA leaders or CSA leaders events. These are script files that contain most (but not nearly all) of the leader creation events for both sides. Again, I recommend us...

CSA War Supply shortage

I'm in a PBEM and my confederate opponent is having difficulty building much in the way of brigades and other land units due to a crippling shortage of War Supply. I'd like to take credit but it's only the summer of 61, so I have not done much damage. Any suggestions for him?

As the title says above, when is this supposed to show up? It is late June 61 in my game, and it has not appeared. Is this WAD?

The issue with replacement chits was, in my mind, one of proving empirically the way it works, not that nobody knew. I'll agree, that the lack of a concise and complete manual is very unsatisfactory. The reason it was not simply published as a Wiki was because at the time many players were already ...
