Late January 1862

I suppose my orders in Nashville should have instructed some of my units to enter the town at the end of combat! As a result, a single service unit, communications, held the town in the face of my two divisions. On the next turn General Daniel Miles thought his men were too tired to assault this sin...

This is the situation after my attack on Nashville. So, what is that unit with two inside the city? The largest unit is a signal corp. What happens next is so typical of the real Union efforts in 1861 as to be comical. The generals outside Nashville decided they were to tired ...

This screen shot shows the Union resource blackboard. That 120 units of money ($120K/ turn) doesn't change much and is a limit on Union resources. Years ago I played War in Europe, the monster SPI game. It's a good thing you didn't attack Alexandria. There are and were two layers of defense there. You can see the fort I built and the record shows the division, with 662 points (fortified at 4). However, I am going to voluntarily begin publishing the accumulated AARs through this game date (March 1862). That will probably change some Southern strategy...

Penalties to players who use a gamey exploit

We're negotiating over something gamey I've been doing. I learned it from Athena last November in the game I keep referring to as my first win over the AI of ACW. I'm not an expert on CSA industrialization. However your strategy is following a line laid down by many threads. At one time, I think with an early patch, there was a concept of using the Union navy to blow forts away. I believe that concept has been fixed with a patch. In any case, I've never successfully used that concept to capture a fort.

Hi Poli,

I've owned ACW for several years. I JUST, for the very first time, defeated Athena. I guess I'm finally ready for a living opponent. Let's trade some info, proposed house rules and discuss.

Patrick

As of 2013/02/07 I am in a game. Thanks.
