Re: Help Desk? PON2

Nice!

PON has a slightly different graphic library compared to others games.

Support for it is discontinued if it involves editing the game itself, but we can still try to answer questions, as you see, some problems can be solved.

From memory too, you don't need to put a $ when citing a faction trigram (is that the correct word for an abbreviation of 3 letters?

There is no need for faction aliases and if you see one, it is an automated left over but is not needed. The game will check what TUR stands for directly...

Re: How do you deal with aging?

An important note is that an objective is not only a progress token but also -20% on government age. So it is better to plan for that and take them when you have an old govt. And if you believe you can"t hold them all, then lose them when you just evolved...

Re: when to form an empire?

Going to Empire provides a lot of benefits: one extra leader, all possible decisions (including the military reforms for improved units), more chances to get decisions per turn, and more.

Re: Are there any plans for more detailed evolution of armies similair to the Roman upgrade path

It can be done as mods. I need to arbitrate between many features so more flavor for Rome, I don't know when I'll get around that. In the meantime you can play others nations with some flavor content, like Judea, Dacia, Carthage, Maurya.

Re: What a Game!

If you have a very strong army early as Rome, it acts as a deterrent and you should get less wars. Now, you have to support it though.

The doors from the Temple of Janus have been closed only twice up to Augustus. These are the only peaces they have known for more than 4 centuries.

Re: Legacy Points from Wonders

There is nothing hard coded, you must check the building panel to see if and how many legacy points they provide. For example Campus Martius is a national wonder because there can only be one on map and only Rome can have it, but that's it, no extra legacy from it.

Judea main goal is to recapture Jerusalem, so that you can start building up the holy temple (it has no less than 8 levels of improvements and the higher the get, the more impressive the bonuses are) to do so you must bid your time so that either one of these 2 things happen: a) Jerusalem owner is i...

Re: Are there some historical leaders in the game?

This would need to be tied to a kind of "historical pack" of events. Why not, it should be optional. Not everybody wants to have a game with the high predictability historical leaders and events give somehow. Some prefer a more freeform game.

Re: The future of AGEOD Games (New Engine)

Many mechanisms in Empires are in Empires because they make sense. Probably if we were to do a Civil War III, we would not add Decadence and trade would take a back seat. :)

What specifically, you dislike in the new game and what do you fear will always be in the new games done with the new engine?

Re: Are there any plans for more detailed evolution of armies similair to the Roman upgrade path

Phalanx were being phased out and a few nations went the 'Imitation Legion' way, given how Rome was successful. This is represented by upgrade paths with Heavy Infantry becoming Improved HI for example.

Each nation but Rome can upgrade 6 types of units to their improved variant.

It is usually because one of the saved game file is corrupted. You should first disable ZIPing the turns, and then remove all saved game from the save directory. Then if one of it is of value to you, add it (one at a time).

Re: Are there some historical leaders in the game?

Historical leaders can create more issues than fun. Perhaps they will return in a special pack/events, optionally. I don't know. Issues: - if their window of appearance is historical, then with some fore knowledge, you'll wait until you get a good leader before doing major operations or in reverse, ...
