Re: CSA PBEM winning strategy?

I didn't take DC yet. It's under siege with the whole McDowell army inside so they can sortie and other troops can help.
I cannot starve them since the river port is open. It'll have to be a normal siege now.

Savannah, New Orleans and Norfolk come to mind where they would actually be useful.

Re: Building CSA coastal art?

Well, the obvious thing is building the coastal artillery and railing them into places where they could be of actual use.

The map has a railroad on it but it's missing from the actual province.

Building CSA coastal art?

I thought since the fortresses are placed in a way which doesn't make a lot of sense. What if I built those coastal artilleries in Georgia and placed them where they can be really used effectively?

Re: CSA PBEM winning strategy?

Sound advice. I think the DC strategy is the best but combined with harassing actions in the west with all units you get for free, protecting at least Charleston or the other objective city near there and most importantly New Orleans. I think I just have to be very aggressive to force Union resource...

Re: Grand Alliance PBEM strategy guide thread

Glad to see that Ageod is still thriving! I just came back to the forums and this is my favorite kind of thread to read. This is the first ageod game that I'm not as well versed in the history. Which is hard for me bc I dont really know how to approach the overall strategy for either side bc I dont...

Re: Command Ratings

Civil War commanders were bad at their job. I think the only one who grasped a bit of modern war was Grant, who won the war. The same can be seen in the Franco-Prussian war in which the French seemed amateurish and the Prussians won only by their aggressive strategy and artillery as they had people ...

Re: CSA PBEM winning strategy?

Charging into DC sounds like a death wish but I like it. I don't see I could really threathen it unless with a huge NM bonus for me vs the Union.

CSA PBEM winning strategy?

Having always been defeated as the CSA, I haven't figured out the way to properly play this side. Union is pretty straightforward with spamming arty and infantry until you just win but CSA feels like a big puzzle. You are forced on the defense in Virginia because of the local superiority of the enem...

Re: Grand Alliance PBEM strategy guide thread

Ditto! Many thanks for this Searry! It's great that folks are keeping this forum active! Out of curiosity, I've been thinking about ways to best organize the Dutch army ahead of the first summer of campaigning in the Low Countries. Scholarly consensus seems to be that they were in a tough spot stra...

Re: Grand Alliance PBEM strategy guide thread

First turns! Turn Eugene's army Orange-Red, he should be activated the first turn always(I only really play veteran mode) first move him to the region where Catinat's army is and then to Mantova. You can start killing Bourbon troops on the first turn and get 1-2 wins depending on if Catinat retreats...

The Grand Alliance has very few tricks up it's sleeve. Marlborough and Eugene are the obvious thing here so if you use them together in the Nether...

That is great you were able to finish 4 PBEM...did you have any problems? I started two PBEM but both were halted due to disappearing armies in North Africa and Britain plus issue with England-Scotland unification card. On strategy, look forward to your guide. My sense is that the Rhine area is key...

Grand Alliance PBEM strategy guide thread

Hello! I think most people would agree that achieving Victory as the Grand Alliance is difficult. I decided to start writing a guide and this will be updated as I find the best courses of action and as a PBEM(I have 4 finished games) game continues. I think the Grand Alliance can win by min-maxing t...

I personally use galleys to transport stuff in the major rivers like Vistula->Wisla etc.
River transports can build depots so that would have been great.

There's no area to recruit these and the error message when trying to recruit is that there is no special structure present. :bonk:
