Yes, on the other hand so many people complained on the idea that you had to play the whole of a side (players who wanted to play - only - say Russia or GB, and not the all anti-French coalition) that the error was understandable... Overall I still feel that, with dozens of hours of dedicated and k...
Wars of Succession uses the old engine, but with the simplified rules (like the Alea Jacta Est series): no complex command chain or supply, no diplomacy just to name the three most blatant differences... :indien: Exactly. War of Succession is just a game better tailored to the existing engine, wher...
Is this nostalgia for Rise of Prussia or Napoleon's Campaigns as some replies mention Spanish Ulcer scenario - although some 300 turns it rather stretches the definition of scenario? Anyway, I just accept that in Ageod games you are Napoleon unable to intervene in what Grouchy is doing on the right...
The key in this game should be that supply wagons shouldn't be able to travel accross a province with an enemy fort, meaning that an army just cannot go any further for more than a turn or two. Not sure how this could be done :bonk: Well I don't know either, I am not the designer ! But it sure is i...
Indeed, in the end it's the fortress of northern France, well manned, that gave the french army time to regroup and eventually get sort of a final draw with the Denain victoryar whereas it looked like the allies were on their way to Paris a few years earlier before getting bogged down in sieges. The...
Well to me replayability means having to face a challenge, and a challenge means an AI that is given the tools to compete. With the game set up as it is, once you trash Austria and Prussia once, they are dead in the water for the whole game. Russia a tiny bit less so, but still massively weakened if...
No idea is stupid. I stil think that it would be better for the reforms to indeed give the country/player a whole new army. Maybe there should be some sort of instrument coded so that elements don't disappear but are transferred to the new divs, I don't know what could be doable. But what I know is ...
Captain_Orso wrote:Does anybody have a Save with any or all of the major factions with Military Reforms in place that I could have a look at? It would be much appreciated
is this with latest beta patch, because it cleared again issues on exp forces, and in particular the "yes but no" answer (i.e AI says yes but don't provide troops). The main problem now is the no but no answer : Say you create the duchy of Warsaw, the very fact YOU created it and its a sa...
yeah overseas force are annoying because it means you can't have too big a stockpile of replacement chits or they will go to garrison units and oversea units.. annoying. Plus units like the guard pump up 3 times as much chits for each replacement, so guard arty just dries up your stock of replacemen...
I agree as far as the aI, but in this PBEM game i am in, the reforms have guaranteed that I cannot ever even try to fight any other power now. At least before the reforms I could make 10 divisions and create 1 or 2 armies and have 3-4000 power. Now I cannot even do that, I am relegated to the backs...
"The 'new style divisions' work the same as brigades with regards to game mechanics, so you cannot add other units to them. How are they in power compared to the 'old style' divisions?" The power is less than half or more of the old style divisions. My new divisions fully formed as Spain ...
WAD, this is no bug here...you are allowed only 5 Divisions of the "old" style after the Reform (i.e. combining Brigades with leaders). What you get is 20 new Divisions units (single units) which are better and more powerful, to build. Those units can individually go into corps. This is h...
The AI is clearly failing at this : I have asked for exp forces numerous times, many many times I have been turned down, quite a few times I have had a yes answer followed by no actual troops... The game is failing at this simply put.
If AGEOD was to try and regenerate going a bit into tactical battles, a form of Pike and shot system could work pretty well : You'd need a crudish map generator (I mean they managed it in Napoleon 1813 by empire, a grandiose and epic failure, but a gem of a concept in 1999 !!!!) Actually a turn by t...
I didn't mean to criticize your explanaton, just that the process you described (which is the actual process) shows how complicated the whole system is. regarding the whole take over of a faction, well this is much of the pont : minors should NOT HAVE AN AI, period... they should be passive and set ...
Lending naval stacks does not currently work. Lending land stacks does. Britain, and France I believe, cannot offer an Expeditionary Force directly; they must wait to be asked for an EF. Other player controlled factions may directly offer an EF. To request an EF (F-1 is the requesting faction, F-2 ...
Well beyond making mods easier, fundamental design issues remain. I for example have come to think that a "cheating" AI in terms of force building and composing would work a lot better. And this can't really be modded. The idea would be that instead of building troops the conventionnal way...
Why not simply adjust the game as two sided player so you can play multiple countries in your alliance as the same player like in Napoleon's Campaigns 1? or ROP? It is such a beautiful game with immense potential but horribly flawed. :( I like this idea very much. The few serious problems with the ...

I have said it already but I honestly think WON's future in the short term lies more in a mod for War of successions... the main issue in WON is that by making a very open ended game, with lots of AI components for the AI to manage, all the problems are there at the core of the game. It's hard to ma...
True, the wagons system is indeed simpler to manage for the engine, less calculations, etc.. but sometimes one isn't sure whether he has enough or not..
Has there been any serious consideration for allowing major powers to take FULL control of minor allies? I think it is quite ridiculous to be waging a campaign in say Italy as France, and the entire Italian army is off wandering around aimlessly elsewhere. Not to mention, the 5 unit stack all artil...
I like to role play the use of generals to some extent.. It would be nice if there was a system where the game could lock bad generals into command of armies a bit more... role play is part of the fun.
For tactical battles, the best option would be to have something akin to the old battleground games "command control" : be able to ask your division generals to try and take a feature, hold at all cost or not, advance cautiously or charge... and then let the AI execute with reckless leaders tending ...
Thanks for the answers, I had figured already with some answers. Btw, they should really open a subforum about the game if they want some discussion and traction to it !
BTW it's probably time to open a subforum, because it's hard to get conversations going on the very moderated "news from Ageod" part of the forum. cheers.
