Re: How do I use River Monitors?

Mostly I use them to block the river form enemy crossings. All river units are a bit marginal, but they can function as guards.

Though we have a private connection, I wish to answer publically as this might be interesting to other gamers. Currently, the Thirty Years War is my very favorite. Small unit game with lots of complications. This is truly a demanding challenge to play well, but with a limited focus. Rise of Prussia ...

Perhaps. Check the automatic victory condition, that is the NM when the opposing side surrenders.

With Windows 7 and later, right click and select run as administrator.
A major change Window did was to make the computer owner not the Admin of the owners computer. You need to take control by using this right click and run option.

Re: Playing solo against yourself

I was drawn to this thread from a repost, but I wonder Husaria, if you are monitoring the forum of if other players have done the solo PON game. I started an eight player PON game back in the day when PON was brand new and have continued until today. I try to play one turn a week but it is sometimes...

Re: Confederate Seniority + Army Command Problem

It is a question of how you are handling you leaders. Keep each army commander as a distinct unit. This should allow you to do as you wish.
Remember corps commanders will hold on to their old commanders until a new army general is the one who is nearest.

What I do is bring up the unit on the unit detail screen, then click on the element.
Then I open the replacement screen and look for the one with the same symbol.
If this makes sense.

Re: Emperor sends troops to Poland

GaiusJulius78 Thank you for your kind comments. I am a bit of a chatterbox and love discussing games. Your are right about TYW. It is a gem of a game. Really complex, but with low unit density. I see from your list of games, only AJE has a similar supply situation. Of course the constraints of the e...

Re: Emperor sends troops to Poland? WHY?

These two event are indeed challenging, especially the first time a gamer is taken unaware of the possibility. Once noted, there are some in-game remedies of adjusting forces and commanders. These two historical events are so important to the age. I have been thinking about how I might adjust them a...

Re: I did it! I won the Swedish Scenario!

1. Yes, I did miss answering your question. I did not realize both leaders had the same seniority. I am pretty sure leaders are not stacked by seniority within leaders of the same rating, only by absolute seniority as in a table. In the Roman game, AJE, many times I have a leader who is the faction ...

Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

I have an odd condition - I have plenty of money and war supplies to buy units, but I cannot. All show as too expensive. I hold the needed recruiting regions at more than 50% loyalty.

Alternative to Wallenstein's Assassination

If there is a player who loves TYW as much as I do, but who actually knows how to mod, I have a suggestion for a mod which might add interest to the Wallenstein Assassination Event. Currently, the Protestant faction has no reason not to assassinate a very good opposition leader when presented with t...

Re: I did it! I won the Swedish Scenario!

Excellent report. Thanks for sharing. To a few of your points. Promotion is individual but also related to probabilities. Gustavus was just not as luck in the determination. Winning a battle but losing more troops is common for superior commanders in all AGEOD games. This is mostly because they keep...

I am not exactly certain this is what you are asking, but when leaders are inactive they only can do two of the four stances. Mostly, they cannot attack.

Love that Sharpe.

You do explain one thing I love about the game, most battles have a wide range of possible outcomes. This is not chess. It is probability with some honing of how and why and leadership.

Re: ECW Questions

Regular troops, infantry or cavalry raise the loyalty. There is a probability factor and, I think, a size of force factor.

I have never had the Storm card generate a playable region. So I do not know. I have had Northern and Midland units. I think it was fired by an option card

Re: Can the Swedes actually win?

Gotcha, yes you must understand this. In AGEOD games things like losing to a minor victory or even gaining a minor victory are good things. The name victory has some relationship to how well you have done, but mostly the level of victory is very parsimonious with regard to other non-AGEOD games. Sou...

Why do you think this is not winning? Is it the final report? AGEOD games are pretty harsh with victory conditions. You must meet or best the historical.

Nope, no idea, but a guess. You are either not running as and administrator or allowing enough memory to the game. It is a display issue, maybe update your graphics!!

All guesses.

Absolutely you can do this. It requires you to gain loyalty in all the regions you wish to incorporate into your new colony. It may require a war, probably with some certainty you will need to fight the Boars.

Re: Infuriating

Ebbingford covers most of your concerns very well, but a few additional thoughts. Supply is very different in this game than most games which players may be familiar. It is not enough to have a line of supply to some capital, instead it is only the regions you are in and adjacent to which provide su...
