Re: Help us test the ECW 1.02 update!

I have an odd condition - I have plenty of money and war supplies to buy units, but I cannot. All show as too expensive. I hold the needed recruiting regions at more than 50% loyalty.

Alternative to Wallenstein's Assassination

If there is a player who loves TYW as much as I do, but who actually knows how to mod, I have a suggestion for a mod which might add interest to the Wallenstein Assassination Event. Currently, the Protestant faction has no reason not to assassinate a very good opposition leader when presented with t...

Re: I did it! I won the Swedish Scenario!

Excellent report. Thanks for sharing. To a few of your points. Promotion is individual but also related to probabilities. Gustavus was just not as luck in the determination. Winning a battle but losing more troops is common for superior commanders in all AGEOD games. This is mostly because they keep...

I am not exactly certain this is what you are asking, but when leaders are inactive they only can do two of the four stances. Mostly, they cannot attack.

Love that Sharpe.

You do explain one thing I love about the game, most battles have a wide range of possible outcomes. This is not chess. It is probability with some honing of how and why and leadership.

Re: ECW Questions

Regular troops, infantry or cavalry raise the loyalty. There is a probability factor and, I think, a size of force factor.

I have never had the Storm card generate a playable region. So I do not know. I have had Northern and Midland units. I think it was fired by an option card

Re: Can the Swedes actually win?

Gotcha, yes you must understand this. In AGEOD games things like losing to a minor victory or even gaining a minor victory are good things. The name victory has some relationship to how well you have done, but mostly the level of victory is very parsimonious with regard to other non-AGEOD games. Sou...

Why do you think this is not winning? Is it the final report? AGEOD games are pretty harsh with victory conditions. You must meet or best the historical.

Nope, no idea, but a guess. You are either not running as and administrator or allowing enough memory to the game. It is a display issue, maybe update your graphics!!

All guesses.

Re: Is there a way to create South Africa as Great Britain?

Absolutely you can do this. It requires you to gain loyalty in all the regions you wish to incorporate into your new colony. It may require a war, probably with some certainty you will need to fight the Boars.

Ebbingford covers most of your concerns very well, but a few additional thoughts. Supply is very different in this game than most games which players may be familiar. It is not enough to have a line of supply to some capital, instead it is only the regions you are in and adjacent to which provide su...

Mostly just a yes, you have the key concept of NM.

There are not really sub-NM, but some leaders with high values can kind of ignore NM for battle. Otherwise, you NM really matters in battle.

It is a zone of control issue. Your opponent has, typically, better loyalty. You can experiment with sending a smaller force with better ability to hide, like light cavalry. They might be able to enter.

Re: How do I actually destroy an army?

Welcome, indeed, to the forum. loki100's advice is very sound. So I merely add a few other thoughts. In all AGEOD games you must readjust to the reality of historical games. Very few battles in any age were decisive. In most, the opponent managed to get away with a mostly intact army. Thus, an incre...

Re: Buy Army HQ

Select the icon in the upper left of your screen which looks kind of like a cog or gear from a clock. You can narrow to none combat units or just scroll until you see Army HQs. Then you can click on it, and with enough resources, buy it.
See if this works.

Hi butsam – These are two great games and one solution will apply to both even though CW2 has the excellent additional feature of coordinated march if the two forces start in the same region. For #1 – march your slowest force to the region you wish to attack. Then plot your faster force to merge wit...

Re: RoP: Draft strategy

I concur with loki100, I would put it this way, do not look to win the war with drafts or recruitment of any kind. Your pool is too small. Smash the Austrians, drive to Vienna and punish their armies. Decimate the Austrian forces. You start strong but have limited reserves.

In thinking about supply wagons and supply you need to think at the element level in the game. Elements are the sub-units in the game. If you click on a unit the display on the bottom right should show one to four elements. Supply wagons can hold up to four elements. Each element can hold up to 80 p...

The answer is Yes. But in order for this to happen, you have to do poorly as Denmark so Sweden can get into the game earlier.

Re: So what does it take to win Swedish scenario?

You must be playing versus AI, which is a challenge indeed.
With AGEOD games, you have to understand victory conditions are not typical, you must win, but you must also win the historical conditions.
Typically, if you gain a marginal win, reason to celebrate.
