Re: Help - Railway Goes to Zero

Probably this is due to something in the changes you have made. Hard to know without knowing what you did. Revert to the base game and see that all is right, then try again.

Re: About expansion?

About #2 - Haiti is an independent nation. You have a couple of courses of play the simplest being: declare war, win the war, then occupy Haiti with regular troops (and no Haitian troops present). This will eventually allow you to win the loyalty of Haiti and will give you the objective. However, to...

Re: Can anyone here advise a strategy for the small scenario Shiloh?

AGEOD game victory decisions are very different than those typically used in other games by being ground more realistically in history. So if you are getting a victory by points this early in your game experience, you are doing very well. You may wish to try one of the other battle scenarios if vict...

Re: Somebody please help :)

In options, the second tab your can make a lot of changes to game setting. The default settings attempt to place you in the position where you can issue orders, but your generals may or may not follow them. You will find the first rating number on leaders is their initiative. This is roughly equal t...

Re: Somebody please help :)

Assault posture has so much more to do with whether or not your units will March to the Sound of Guns or engage in a synch march than in the battle. When you move into an enemy controlled region all your units switch to assault mode. Learning to win is tough. Once you beat AI, come back for some pbe...

Re: Somebody please help :)

I know, once you figure it out it will feel like you are stupid, but until then, it is just frustrating. Use the Tent icon on the lower left. Click on it. Then hit the minus symbol - It says, split units. This removes division command. If it works correctly and you used a two star leader, you will i...

Re: Somebody please help :)

It sounds like what you are not doing is removing divisional command. Remove divisional command which returns all units to a pool. then you should be ready to create a corps by selecting the create a corps command. Once the corps is created, the corps command can no longer attach units, that is when...

Re: Somebody please help :)

So print out the pages of the manual with regard to how to form armies and corps. Grant and Buell are army commander as the scenario begins. Now look for your two star commanders like Wallace and McClennard. Remove them from division command. Once you have done this, then your two and three star gen...

The message box or ledger displays on demand and disappears during play. On the righthand bottom of your screen, you will see the boxes you click on to open different reports. Double click any one of them and you fully open the ledger.

Re: Critical Error During Turn Transition

Ah ha, a good clue as to something else to try, but first, go into the game options menu and select the systems tab, you can then adjust the memory allocated to the game. So with your new information it might just be that you and your pbem opponent are in different versions of the game. Your are ide...

Re: Why can't I move my troops

Probably you cannot move due to Zones of Control. You might notice the regions around your siege are red when you click on your force. This is because you occupy an enemy controlled region. So you must complete the siege to be able to move. Look at the wall strength. If a one or zero, get into assau...

Re: Should I get this one or wait for empires?

This game is great, as delcastel says. Nope, do not wait. This is the definitive computer game of the American Civil War.
The turns are half as long, two weeks, not a month as in AJE. This changes a bit how you play.

Re: Replacement question

Any of your units missing elements are eligible for replacement. While you do not get to target replacements to units, there are things you can do to enhance the probability of a unit receiving the replacement. Typically units need to be in or by a supply source equal to the element value of a stack...

Re: New to Ageod and asking which game to learn?

My suggestion is always to buy the game of the era which most engages you. For me it was the American Civil War, with Wars in America a close second. There are really two game systems: 1. Simple supply games, AJE, WIA, WoS and English Civil War; which use a less complex, yet maybe more challenging, ...

You can using the switch faction option.
Yes, 1861.
You can, however, for only $4 US, buy the DLC for the American Civil War and just play it directly.

Maximize the memory you are allocating to the game 3. Ma...

Re: Sortie from Structure

It depends a bit on what activation settings you are using. Your force inside the structure must be active and is best if led by an activated leader. If activated, then sortie is best if in offensive posture, but it is not essential. A defensive posture is ok, as long as it not passive. To maximize ...

Probably working as designed, but a Spanish first strategy can really add to your NM, especially with some wins. This is a very nice plus as if you go east, you NM just cannot keep up and you lose battles because your troops are inferior.

Re: Looking for like minded

If you could define your scope or era, that would be helpful. My thought in reading your post is that if you work with the Pride of Nations game you would have a decent platform for either a reworking of something like world wide scope of the wars of Frederick the Great's time or bringing it up thro...

Re: Game Crashes and I can´t see the old game saves

Saves folders can sometimes be difficult. The actual game Saves folder ought to be in your Documents folder in the My Games folder. First, check to see this is where your saved game is located.
Does your saved game have a hst file in the folder.
This does not get you back in the game, please update.

When do the crashes happen:
Right away as the game opens?
When you move certain units?
As you save?
Some other time or behavior?
This will help find the cause. The most common cause for crashes is not running the game as an administrator.

Guys, this is fascinating. I mostly play pbem, but I think you adventures offer an insight into how this could be done in a three player game. Taking Africa is a real challenge for the Western Entente, so maybe not conquering Africa as the Central Powers, but holding them though the war is plausible.
