Re: Detailed Battle Report etc.

I will not answer all that you post, but maybe a bit. AGEOD games are rich, but they do demand some uncovering of the not so obvious stuff. I do hope a player who pays attention to detailed stuff jumps onto your post as I mostly just play by ear. Experiment with the overlays as they show most of the...

Re: Can only save one turn

What you can do is to use the consul, ctrl ~ to bring up some options. If you select, run as a different faction, you can save under a new name. This is the only way I know how to do it.

Re: Caesar vs. Pompey: Winning strategy - Spain or the East?

True the legions are not as robust, but the naval war is decent if you go east. While Caesar can march around the Med, Pompey now can do hit and run attacks and even retake Rome.

Re: PBEM ?

Well, do not be too discouraged. Committing to a game of PON is a year's long commitment. However, joining an ongoing game when a player needs to leave the game for some reason is very doable and likely if you wish. WON is a lot of fun, but maybe same advice, easy to join an ongoing game than a new ...

Re: England Invasion: GC start JAN 1805

Scripts are found on the last tab of the Options menu. They are historical 'what ifs' and can be a lot of fun.
Remember a corps does not actually mean a corps, it means a smaller army. Napoleon can lead it and leave defense of the Austrian border to a subordinate or vice versa.

What kind of issues? Like Citizen X I have not found problems with pbem, but if you can be a bit more specific, maybe some thoughts will come to mind.

Re: England Invasion: GC start JAN 1805

You can use the two scripts found in Options, either France Rules the Waves or France Hold the Caribbean Island (I forget the actual name but it bring the USA and Spain in against France against some enhanced French naval assets), but if you start with the Sea Lion option you have the strength to se...

Re: When can we expect new patch?

I do hope you know it is not so simple as who was on the team and how can they help. Some fixes are small and most dedicated modders can find a solution, but these are for small file tweaks. Many fixes involve changes to the way the basic game operates. Even game designers cannot make these changes ...

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

Not sure exactly what you are asking. The game uses two week turns. Not all pbem games use the same interval. Some play a turn a week, some have bi-weekly turns. Most try for a turn a day. As the events of this game are not as deterministic as other games, that is, if you are not at war it is not fa...

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

What happens is all players create their ord. The game host collects them. When all factions have submitted and ord, the game is run. So all faction ords are used each turn with a common host. You can try this yourself as you practice the game. Open Britain, make a move and save. Then open France an...

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

It is probably easier to slip you into an ongoing game where a player has quit the game due to some reasons. But new games do form with some frequency.
For other games, you can often pick up an opponent. WON is kind of open.
What would you like to do?

In addition to what Canon says, it is really useful to make a leader's traits to a unit. For instance, cavalry or irregular units. But yes, connect each leader to a unit. Very much worthwhile to do so.

Yes, understand RUS has very different locked/unlocked rules. The developer recommends never using hard activation as the game locks the Reds every other turn without political leadership. The whites have some similar political issues, but very unique to this game.

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

Oh no. In PON you could have a dozen players, though the default is about 10. Same with WON.
Large player games can be lots of fun.
In the AJE game there are a lot of three player games, as in RUS. ROP has a very nice four player game.

Re: The perfect grand strategy game ?

Your are likely correct. PON was an intended replacement for the Victoria games, and it is so much grander.
I learned PON by playing all factions against myself, but now I find pbem games with lots of players a whole lot of fun. If you ever decide to do pbem drop me a PM.

Re: Rebel alignment

I am really not a great technical person, so I suspect the NM is depress when rebel alignment is low. But the NM is the defining issue. Also, I misstated. Revolution breaks out at about 15 or 7 NM, not zero. Because this is a three faction game, the Entente continues if one faction is at zero NM. So...

Re: How did the game do?

What I am telling all, patches are not likely to happen. But some players will make small fixes to things.
So if there is a game breaking problem, then a fix will happen. If there are minor issues, these will likely just be lived with.
