Re: Stuck on Turn 102 yikes !

For me the fix is to just not play too many turns in a row. I usually exit the game after two turns if I am hosting pbem or playing solo. That seems to keep the memory (or whatever else might be causing the crash) under control.

To get out of such a situation your opponent needed to do green/green with avoid combat selected. And, this is only a hope and a prayer.

Re: British Fleet Questions - Mechanics

Blockade Box Like in CW2, up to a certain amount you really do impact the global blockade, but I think you do reach diminishing returns. Having never played pbem as Britain, I am inferring from other powers. Brown Water Blockade Brown Water Blockade is slightly different. You will see the 'sufficien...

Re: The effect of changes within the options menu?

Pretty much like the game tags say. If it says a restart is needed before being applied, then that is the limit. Otherwise, once you make the change you should see the change. If you are ever worried this might not be the case, exit the game and restart.

A useful House Agreement

I usually play the game as is, but occasionally I use a House Rule for game balance. For instance, in To End All Wars I believe Russia should be required to attack East Prussia to evoke the Hindenburg response. In ECW players may wish to consider limiting Parliament taking Oxford in the first year o...

Re: Cavalry Screen Card

I am far from an expert on the use of cards as I typically use only a few; however, I do experiment with all at some point. Cavalry Screen is useful in the attack if you wish to add surprise (see the surprise ability from leaders with such) to your attack. It is only useful in the attack to gain thi...

Re: How does one find Divisions?

You can always find active units by using the E or R keys for land and T or Y for naval, so if you missing divisions are active you will find them this way. W is the key command to find locked units, so if your divisions are not active, W will find them.

So I have noticed this same problem with regard to replacements. As I see it, your units still draw replacement, so it is playable.

Re: Why do I have supply here?

Supply in this game is annoying as heck. Always running out, can never replenish, get into a battle, insta-wipe. Probably one of the worst supply systems in a wargame I have seen. Don't get me started on storms happening all the time, and leaders not being able to board ships and escape in a besieg...

Yes the size of the display you have selected will be very small. There are other options.

Re: Testing for signs of life

In my view, this is the most comprehensive and accurate game of the Great War. It is really complex and a challenge to play well.
I wonder what might be the cause of your disappointment. The political and command and control are so well done.

I do have to add, I searched for years for a reasonably accurate American Civil War game, what I have found in CWII is a ridiculously wonderfully accurate Civil War game. CWII is beyond wonderful.

You are right, it is likely an install problem. Not sure about Steam, but it is always helpful to run AGEOD games by giving your computer admin privileges.

Re: Army Layout

It is actually very different from CWII as there are no subordinate corps. Otherwise, many similarities. Your first consideration is does your army have command penalties. It is helpful to have all of your units under a subordinate commander as they gain the commander's abilities and this reduces co...

Re: Too Many Leader deaths? Or working as designed.

Hmm, I am pretty sure an analysis which blames the player for poor play is totally off the mark on this question. There is no game mechanism to 'protect' a leader from loss. To suggest this is possible is very silly. Actually, holding at all costs has no correlation to leader death. I wonder why you...

Re: Russian Civil War Metagame AAR on Wargamer

This is interesting. You reminded me of Berg's really fun six player game of the Russian Revolution where each player draws leaders, red and white, and then has some leaders of both factions and the units attached to these leaders. Not quite the Metagame you show, but six players in a really confuse...
