Re: East Prussia 1914 scenario, negative victory points?

I am pretty sure this just means you are playing well as both factions. You can up the difficulty and see if you get the same results.
Another option is to play both sides and see which one you do best with if there is no AI.

Re: Landing Penalities Too Harsh?

So wouldn't it make more sense to allow a stack to retreat back to its transports following a failed landing rather than making it fight to the end? (I am not saying that anything should do with the combat penalty associated with landings...that seems rather justified.) You know, pgr, this was my f...

Re: Chain of command questions

Yes, they HQ automatically assign. I actually do not know the answer to what happens if two HQ are the same distance. This is partly because I usually have corps, corps HQ corps corps on the line. Hopefully someone has a better answer. The only way I know for you to decide is to move on HQ further a...

Re: Playing solo against yourself

I really like playing solitary against myself. It might be helpful in your understanding of how this works without 'cheating' to know I did this for years with table top board games. As you can imagine, no enemy dispositions were hidden as in AGEOD game with fog of war. But one function of the AGEOD...

Re: Corps out of army container

Yes, just the way you say it. Best is still up in the air for me. If you poke around the forum, you will see several suggestion for the best composition of armies and corps. I use the army as a 'fire brigade,' rushing in to help corps, so I try to make it strong in all arms. I do not put a corps ins...

Re: Corps out of army container

Conceptually, EAW runs a different idea of the relation of armies to corps. Once you understand this, it is an excellent simulation of the WWI era armies. To get 'any' benefit, corps need to be in the same or an adjacent region as an army. Corps do not embed inside the army (although they can). Inst...

Re: To the Mountians!

Well, my short and sarcastic answer is - the way retreat works in all AGEOD games! The rule I have derived is this: Retreat is to the most annoying and impossibly difficult region possible. In this mindset, I imagine the retreat algorithm is this: where would the player most hate to have forces retr...

Hi yak79 and welcome to the forum.

One thing to try is to uninstall and then reinstall as an administrator. Sometime the problem is with the install. And then always run as an admin.

Baris, as always, thank you for providing your input. I kind of knew about taking Tzaritsyn, but as it is such a challenge I had forgotten as I have never managed to take this city. I am not sure what is meant by #2: This option will be automatically activated if Denikin did not invaded the Kuban in...

Re: Blockade Blues

The French target the commerce box with their card for runners. The Commerce box can also be used by Britain (and perhaps Spain) for merchant shipping. The anti-French forces use the Blockade Box to limit French imports.. Yes, I am corrected. I meant 'Export Goods' is played in the commerce box. Ot...

Re: Take Tzarist before December 1918?

Thank you for clarifying. The Ukrainian situation is a bit complex. As you know, a major part of the Ukrainian forces are anarchist who may become allied with the Red faction. The main Ukrainian nationalist faction is independent. While it will not ally with the Southern Whites, it will also be an o...

Re: How does Battle Planning work?

I am not an expert on Battle Planning as I rarely play against AI. However, it is a two step as you say, when you choose the specific deployment after choosing the general deployment it seems to play as I have chosen.
I have not seen the game change my selection.
Perhaps you could illustrate?

Re: Blockade Blues

I do agree with Captain_Orso's advice, but would add this clarification. Be careful to differentiate between the Commerce Box and the Blockade Box as I think there is a slight variation between WON and CWII. The French target the commerce box with their card for runners. The Commerce box can also be...

Re: What exactly does determine minor or major victory?

AGEOD victory are different from other games. Most other games only use territorial objectives or territorial objectives minus battle casualties. These are fine, but often understate actual victory. Before providing my understanding, let me say, in these games if you break even or win a minor victor...

Re: Division Design Questions

I do not think there is a best practice yet as to division design. The old CW2/AACW seems to still apply, in my play at least. So not being a tech person, I think you have a similar advantage with an artillery division. I do not do this. I do, however, put heavy artillery with elite units and this s...

Re: Game still to unbalanced for CSA

Temgesic, you are so right. So much of whether or note a game is balanced depends upon who is playing and how well that person plays. Even versus one's self, the random elements create a wide diversity of results. And, of course, as I have stated many places, is this an historical simulation or ches...

Re: Game still to unbalanced for CSA

If you must know, and you likely do not, it amazes me that gamers wish to further hobble the Union in this game. In pbem the CSA wins plenty of times for lots of reasons. The Union is tough to play. The CSA has so many advantages as the game opens. I can see some players wish for a guaranteed win fo...

Try this as a simple fix. Log out every time you have done two turns.

Second fix, always run as Admin

Third fix, check your memory and graphic options.

Where is the game crashing now? Is it the same, when you run the turn or some other time?

Does it happen when you build a certain unit or play a specific card?

Admittedly a bit odd. Did you see the normal AI run dialogue? That is, the minor nations not yet at war? Without the red paperclip of earlier games, it is hard to see if both factions have new ords. As I have never seen the behavior you report, I can only speculate, but my guess is your opponent cre...

So if I attacked a 100% controlled enemy region with an inactive general I should see a -35% Command Coefficient in the combat logs? I don't.
