Re: Missing Savegame

If you cannot see the file from the load game menu, try this. Open the saves file and create a new folder, something like, test of backup. Open the most recent backup file' Copy and past all files into the new folder. Then go to the load games menu and see if you can now see the game. If this works ...

Re: Missing Savegame

Hi OldContemptible - Welcome to the forum. Two possible things, one might be you are not saving before you exit. Saving creates a new version of the file. Are you running the game in administrative mode. This is the most usual reason as the game creates files 'outside' of the game and it needs the '...

Re: Lost Johnsons boys

Do not defend inside of cities. Defend on top of the city with maybe a very small garrison inside. If you units are inside a city and must retreat, they surrender and are eliminated. If your units defend outside the city, they will retreat normally. Think of it this way: at Vicksburg the forces were...

Re: Question about PBEM

Watching the game unfold is a major benefit. While RUS has a good replay option, seeing the game play helps focus. And for me, I get such a better idea threats and opportunities. There is a second reason. The host has benefit of extended thinking. Typically, the host gets two times to think about th...

Re: Question about PBEM

So much depends upon you. You have several excellent avenues in which to proceed. RUS is most ideal with two White players in pbem because this represents the divided command which afflicted the White's plans and cooperation troubles. Part of why this is the case is because the two different White f...

My guess from the second post, you are not running the game in administrative mod.
The first I do not know. Never seen AI shut off.

Re: Quick PON Survey

Here is a thought - if the game has become addictive, try a game where you play all of the major factions. PON is really well designed for solitaire play with the player taking all ten listed factions as it is more about development and less about battle; but even major wars are enjoyable. It takes ...

Re: Quick PON Survey

This is an interesting series of questions. I am assuming you mean in play against AI as pbem games are very long. So my answers come from only pbem games. 1. Never 2. Has not happened 3. Never got to 1920 as game are still in the 1880s or 90s. 4. No actual idea of what you are asking. 5. Answering ...

Re: Lost Johnsons boys

Usually lost leaders have been wounded and are inside a nearby city locked so you cannot find them easily. You can search as if you are looking for locked units to find them or just look for cities which have a number indicating forces inside.

Re: Enemy Units Passing Through Lines

Look at the loyalty of the regions. If you can have at least 50% loyalty, this might stop it.
This is a real challenge.
Your offensive stance is a good idea. But also remember if they pass your lines without obtaining supply, they will wither for lack of supply.

This is a challenge, are you playing against AI or pbem? This does make a difference. AI can move in ways live players cannot.

Three player pbem, nice alternative

I am in a three player pbem game of WON. The sides are, France/Spain/Ottoman, Great Britain/Prussia, and Russia/Austria. We have a reasonably long list of player agreements, which I will post later if others are interested, but essentially, the three core nations, France, Great Britain and Russia ca...

Somebody should surely correct me if my understanding is incorrect; I think of both as interactive. that is; once you have the unit in place, then you can play the card. I have no idea if this is correct, but it is what seems to work for me.

Re: Units are affected by our inability to pay their upkeep

This is a mystery to me based upon the information I can see. If I were to guess, and I often do so, I would say this force is not connected to your capital region. Maybe besieged, maybe just without a means to connect, not sure. You have plenty of resources to pay for upkeep, so not much to do if t...

Re: Historical Resource Placement?

I do not know if you played the old board game Gusher, but it seems resources are allocated in a similar manner. Regions have probability quotas which are 'seeded' when the game begins and when explorers enter. You do not get the same resource in the same region in each game, but resources are seede...

Welcome to the forum. I am glad you are enjoying. I am not an expert on playing against the AI as I primarily play pbem, but maybe some ideas for you. 1. With regard to your Canadians, load them on a transport and unload them in Brest. This is what I do, they always go. If this does not work for you...

Re: Player Notes on Revolution Under Siege

My two cents worth = It is a better game for the Whites if the faction unite, even being played by a single White player. It is better history to have two White players each pursuing its faction's own goals. So Stauffenberg, yes if the goal is to play a game with equal chances for both sides to win,...

Re: Naval combat from blockaded ports.

Because the opposing naval force is not in the same regions (as is the besieging army), you can sortie. If you wish to take some land elements, you must use the 'evade combat' option, green/green is not necessary but can be useful for the naval action. You will likely retreat back into the besieged ...

I have given some thought to the question you raise. My response is this is not the mad world of 1914 when alliances were meaningful, honored; almost; and deadly consequences resulted. Treaties are a statement of intent, not legally binding. This was even more true in ancient days than is true today...
