Re: Is there a way to disable "March to the sound of the guns"?

Yes, as an extreme test, make sure no subordinate corps commanders are in these regions, place everyone on green/green with evade combat. This should work for sure.

Re: Is there a way to disable "March to the sound of the guns"?

The easy way is to make this units subordinate to a different army. March to the sound of guns primarily moves armies and their subordinate corps, not unattached units.

Re: New game, already (same?) old engine?

ERISSS I am surprised at this comment from you as I always admire your insights; however, this time you have it so wrong. This game engine is so new it still squeaks. I promise. Really!! It is totally new from the ground up. I wonder why you say this? Have you, perhaps, not played the game and are j...

Re: How old are you guys ?

As this thread keeps being extended I feel more and more a need to share, I was born in time to share Avalon Hills early growth and own all of its most early games which I bought when they said for players 12 years of age and up and I was not yet able to meet that label. Thus, I still approach compu...

I wonder too. I tried to replicate your experience and could not. I think it might be the distance of your GHQ from your other potential armies. Just a guess.

I really know nothing about cohesion. Maybe someone else does.
This is a shipping box, so any transports operate as merchant ships. Usually Russia and Germany lack merchants ships to place here.

Re: Baltic Shipping Box

It works very much like any other naval/shipping box. You might say whatever one side can do, so can the other. Either Germany or Russia can place merchant ships here to receive some shipments. Either side can use submarines and/or naval commerce raiders. You really cannot use this box to blockade. ...

Hi Zardoz - I am pretty sure that no city is included in the scope of regions with cities less than 25; no city has less than 25. I have used this command in regions without cities. You may be correct on the probability score, but I think all decisions has a probability factor. At least it helps mak...

Did you hold the shift key to get the more detailed information? You will see loyalty and military control as well as city size affect if the event can happen, few events are without probability, but if you meet the key conditions, you should have some success. The main event which needs further cla...

Re: Moving troops out of besieged cities by sea

Don't give Pocus too much of a hard time about this one, the behavior changed as the game evolved.

Load the troops, put the whole force into passive mode, select avoid combat. This will get you out.

Re: FOG:E Multiplayer(!)

Pretty sure loki100 is explaining the server does not hold any game files, it uses the players' games. So as it touches each players' game in executing the turn, all players will need to have the script incase it is his/her computer hosted game moment which is used to run the script. Loading a scrip...

Byron - did you do as Pocus suggested? This is how you would do it: After the turn you ran which did not work. Back up one turn. Then enter the saves folder and find TUR file, there should be two. Delete these. Go back into the game and do at least two things, like move a unit or buy a new units. Sa...

Probably this is due to something in the changes you have made. Hard to know without knowing what you did. Revert to the base game and see that all is right, then try again.

Re: About expansion?

About #2 - Haiti is an independent nation. You have a couple of courses of play the simplest being: declare war, win the war, then occupy Haiti with regular troops (and no Haitian troops present). This will eventually allow you to win the loyalty of Haiti and will give you the objective. However, to...

Re: Can anyone here advise a strategy for the small scenario Shiloh?

AGEOD game victory decisions are very different than those typically used in other games by being ground more realistically in history. So if you are getting a victory by points this early in your game experience, you are doing very well. You may wish to try one of the other battle scenarios if vict...

In options, the second tab your can make a lot of changes to game setting. The default settings attempt to place you in the position where you can issue orders, but your generals may or may not follow them. You will find the first rating number on leaders is their initiative. This is roughly equal t...

Re: Somebody please help :)

Assault posture has so much more to do with whether or not your units will March to the Sound of Guns or engage in a synch march than in the battle. When you move into an enemy controlled region all your units switch to assault mode. Learning to win is tough. Once you beat AI, come back for some pbe...

I know, once you figure it out it will feel like you are stupid, but until then, it is just frustrating. Use the Tent icon on the lower left. Click on it. Then hit the minus symbol - It says, split units. This removes division command. If it works correctly and you used a two star leader, you will i...

It sounds like what you are not doing is removing divisional command. Remove divisional command which returns all units to a pool. then you should be ready to create a corps by selecting the create a corps command. Once the corps is created, the corps command can no longer attach units, that is when...

So print out the pages of the manual with regard to how to form armies and corps. Grant and Buell are army commander as the scenario begins. Now look for your two star commanders like Wallace and McClennard. Remove them from division command. Once you have done this, then your two and three star gen...

The message box or ledger displays on demand and disappears during play. On the righthand bottom of your screen, you will see the boxes you click on to open different reports. Double click any one of them and you fully open the ledger.

Re: Why can't I move my troops

Probably you cannot move due to Zones of Control. You might notice the regions around your siege are red when you click on your force. This is because you occupy an enemy controlled region. So you must complete the siege to be able to move. Look at the wall strength. If a one or zero, get into assau...

This game is great, as delcastel says. Nope, do not wait. This is the definitive computer game of the American Civil War.
The turns are half as long, two weeks, not a month as in AJE. This changes a bit how you play.

Any of your units missing elements are eligible for replacement. While you do not get to target replacements to units, there are things you can do to enhance the probability of a unit receiving the replacement. Typically units need to be in or by a supply source equal to the element value of a stack...

My suggestion is always to buy the game of the era which most engages you. For me it was the American Civil War, with Wars in America a close second. There are really two game systems: 1. Simple supply games, AJE, WIA, WoS and English Civil War; which use a less complex, yet maybe more challenging, ...
